Bramblings, New Forest cottage by the green
Bramblings is in a magical position, at the edge of Lyndhurst, on the green and just over the cattle grid. It is just a short walk in to Lyndhurst for restaurants, cafes and shopping and there are great walks and cycling direct from the house. Remember to keep the gate shut whenever you are coming and going as the ponies, donkeys and cows are free to meander just outside and they are always keen to help themselves to the greenery in the garden. We built Bramblings 2003, and it has been our family home since then. We have now divided the cottage in half. One side is still our family home and the other side is available for guests. You will have your half entirely to yourselves, with a private garden and private access. Parking is on the road just outside and you enter the property via the double gates. Outside there is a small enclosed garden with a sun trap patio with table and chairs and portable barbeque to enjoy the long summer days and nights. Just down the road is the Waterloo Pub or a short walk away, via the bridle path, is the New Forest Inn, Emery Down. You are welcome to store bikes inside in the utility room. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (extra fee payable) but please ensure they are kept downstairs. The entrance door leads directly into the kitchen and living space. The kitchen has a window seat, floor to ceiling windows and French doors in to the garden. For cooking there is an Aga (off in the summer), electric cooker and electric hob there is also a dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There is kitchen island with bar stools, dining table with seating for x4 (high chair available), and a lovely big corner sofa and HD smart TV and faux logburner. The utility room, off the kitchen, provides adequate storage for bikes and is complete with washing machine and tumble drier. Upstairs the bedroom has a 6ft double bed, walk in wardrobe, open fireplace, sofa bed, vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling oak windows. Between the main bedroom and shower room (there is no bath in the property) there is a small dressing room with chair/fold out bed and another matching chair/fold out bed is in the bedroom. A travel cot is also available. Complimentary logs for the fire are available to use. We live in the other half of the house, so we are usually either onsite or half an hour away at the water ski club, which is pretty much our second home. The New Forest is a beautiful place to visit. You are free to go for miles, cycling, walking or riding. Lyndhurst has loads of lovely pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. There is an open top bus that tours the forest in the summer. Mainline trains from Waterloo stop at Ashurst, which is only 4 miles away. Make sure you book a taxi before you arrive as it is like stepping back in time and there won't be a fleet of taxis to whisk you away.
