Modern Mountain Retreat

A modern mountain retreat, designed by NY architects IDSR architecture. The house is set within the tree canopy of the Catskills. It is situated close to hiking, skiing and fishing destinations. Both Bellayre and Hunter are about 20 miles away. Featured in May/June 2019 Dwell Magazine. Please note, there is no central air conditioning in the summer. The house is raised and takes advantage of cross ventilation. We also provide portable tower fans. The house is of modern design, with materials that resonate with the environment. The large sliding glass windows and the elevated level make you feel like you are in a tree house. The house is on three wooded acres, surrounded on two sides by forever wild land. It includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms and living spaces on the main floor. The front deck, back decks and yard are open for our guests' use. Explore the small creek off a wooded path, or sled down the hill behind the studio in the winter. The workshop which is in a separate structure is not open to guests. It contains power tools which are not safe for the average renter. The Owner loft is also not accessible to guests. It is accessed via a ladder from the laundry room, but the ladder is locked. I am available via phone or text at any time with questions. The house is yours to enjoy in full privacy. The neighborhood is semi-rural. There are just a few houses on our street, which is a dead end. This makes it very quiet. Our street is not busy, so you can enjoy a walk or jog up and down the sloped street. While it is possible to take the bus and be dropped off at the bottom of the hill, you will need a car to get around and to buy groceries. Minimum age for primary renter is 30 years old. Due to local restrictions on short term rentals, the minimum rental term has increased to 30 days to comply with the requirements. Please note that a bi-weekly cleaning is required at minimum. A weekly cleaning can be provided for $100.
