Brown Rigg Lodges - Pennine Lodge
PENNINE - sleeps up to 6, pet friendly, with communal Function Hall/Games Room
Set in 24 acres in the Northumberland National Park and in the Northumberland Dark Sky Park, Pennine is spacious and comfortable and you'll begin to relax the minute you arrive. Pennine is one of four lodges at Brown Rigg and was converted from the science block when Brown Rigg was a boarding school. The site was designed by famous architect Thomas Smith Tait, who was also responsible for the design of Selfridges, the Kodak Building and the pylons on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Pennine is set around a private courtyard area, which is great for children to play and cycle on. Guests also have use of the games field which is directly behind the lodge. There is a communal Function/Games Hall with a pool table, table tennis table and a selection of board games and toys. The Function/Games Hall is also ideal for hosting a family celebration or a group event and is available for use by guests, unless it has been booked for a private function (for which there is a separate charge). The lodge is surrounded by stunning views, and the master bedroom has french doors that open out onto a patio area that overlooks open countryside; a perfect spot for watching the sun setting. Horses graze in the fields and buzzards often circle overhead in the sky. Pennine is also wheelchair accessible. Pet friendly, we accept 2 well behaved dogs during your stay for a small charge. There is also free WiFI. Pennine is perfectly situated for accessing the Pennine Cycleway (Route 68), the Sandstone Way, and the Reivers Route. The Pennine Way National Walking Trail also passes the entrance to the Brown Rigg estate and there are also several local walks direct from your doorstep. There is a secure cycle store, bike wash and a free drying and laundry room. Fishing is available on the nearby River Tyne. Kielder Forest, Kielder Observatory and Hadrian`s Wall are all within an easy drive and shops, pubs and restaurants are just a short stroll away in Bellingham.
