Spacious two into one stylish cottage with parking
Nightingale Place was built in 1859 originally as two workers cottages for Nightingale farm. Situated in central historic Beccles with a secure ,sunny garden and parking for several cars. Within easy walking distance of shops ,pubs ,Lido and River Waveney. It has underfloor heating,a large open plan area with integrated appliances ,fridge,freezer, dishwasher, washing machine ,smart TV and DVD player The costal town of Southwold and the historic city of Norwich are just 30 minutes drive away. A detached home from home where you can relax and socialise. The garden has a summerhouse ,tables, chairs, sun loungers and sun umbrella. We live just a few streets away however for safe distancing we are this season encouraging guests to use the key safe. We are however happy to meet and greet you if you prefer and show you how things work.There is a comprehensive hand written house manual at the cottage plus you are also very welcome to contact me by phone if you do have any queries or issues during your stay. Beccles is an historic town with a great sense of community It is big enough to get what ever you want yet small enough to relax and get about easily Beccles is great for walking ,both down by the river and in the surrounding countryside It also has lots of independent shops,pubs,restaurants and even a Lido and little museum Beccles also has a train station plus is very well served by buses that stop nearby. The buses that stop opposite go to Lowestoft and Southwold.The buses that stop just to the right as you come out of the cottage go to Norwich. Market day is Friday at New Market (just at the top of Blyburgate ,)where fresh fresh fruit, veg ,bread,and other items can be purchased.There are also three large and two small supermarkets locally see last paragraph for details. Walk to Beccles main church St Michaels with its detached bell tower where tours are occasionally available. Go to the front of the church and admire the view.This is where you realise Beccles is a town set high above the river and marshes! The famous outdoor lido usually opens at half term week in May and closes early September . It is about 15 mins walk away through Hungate car park, past Vintage Mischief (also well worth a visit,) At Ballygate just before museum, (open afternoons)go down the steps to Puddingmoor N.B parking is at a premium there .Lido is to the right. Just outside the Lido is the Black Dog ferry which takes you to the famous Geldeston Locks and Pub also well worth a visit.If you feel adventurous and like long walks it is possible to walk there also. The Kings Head on New Market A large busy old inn that is now a Wetherspoons hotel serving reasonably priced food drinks including breakfasts. Great for younger children and also lovely for older ones to reminisce. Shopping Beccles has a number of charming independent shops including those specialising interior furnishing on trend and vintage. If you are interested in vintage clothes, mid century furniture, vinyl records etc you must make sure you visit Vintage Mischief,take side alley by Greggs into Hungate carpark turn right. There are four or five independent women’s clothes shops around town. Chain stores M&Co, Laura Ashley,Boots ,Superdrug, WH Smith's,FatFace Food shopping There is a small local department shop with a small food section Roy’s off Blyburgate carpark and a small co op on NewMarket within walking distance of the cottage. Tesco is a short walk along the side of Roy’s garden area straight along Fair Close and straight across Station Rd . On George Westwood Way there are three large supermarkets ,Morrison’s, Lidl’s ,and Tesco’s.
