Winter stays require an AWD or 4x4 type vehicle! Our small cabin (16'x18' plus loft) has big views and is located on a south facing slope of rural neighborhood in the mountains. It was built in 1995 and was recently remodeled using recycled materials where possible. In the loft is a queen sized bed which is accessible only by a ladder. The cabin can accommodate 1 or 2 adult guests but is not suitable for infants or small children. One well-behaved dog is welcome - please see house rules. The cabin is about 300 sq.ft. plus the loft. It is partially solar powered. Below the loft the main cabin has a bathroom which has toilet and shower, the kitchen has a 2 burner propane gas stove, a deep sink, 4.5 cu ft. refrigerator/freezer, a coffee maker with coffee, toaster oven, microwave, and comes fully stocked with basic condiments, cookware, utensils, and dishes. There is a TV that plays DVDs and CDs (we provide a small selection of both). There is no cable/TV channel reception in the cabin and no cellphone signal anywhere in the valley. The small sitting room has a sliding glass door that accesses the deck which looks out across the valley. Our goal is to provide a comfortable, peaceful mountain experience for those who want to get away and appreciate being in the mountains. No type of grills or fires are allowed - also no smoking is allowed in or outside of the cabin. If you are bringing your 4 legged best friend please bring their bed as well. Guests will have the entire cabin to themselves. There is room for one vehicle only. Our home is located 200 feet away from the cabin. We have one very sweet and playful dog. We are generally there most of the time and are available for inquires but respect guests' desire for privacy. There is no cell service but our landline is available in case of emergency. Our elevation is about 8500'. We are across the valley from Raspberry Ridge and the Crystal River. We have spectacular views of the mountains and sky. AWD with good winter tires are necessary in the winter. There is plenty of walking available right out the front door. The farther up you go the better the views! There can be wildlife very close to the cabin so dogs must be on leash when let outside at night and early in the morning. Dogs must not be allowed to chase wildlife. It is best to purchase groceries and gas in Carbondale or Paonia (depending on the direction you're coming from). In the summer there is a BBQ restaurant open in Marble. Carbondale is about 40 minutes depending on road and weather conditions. Again, it is necessary to have AWD and good winter tires when visiting in the winter. Cell service ends about five miles outside of Carbondale when heading south on Hwy. 133, and just a couple of miles outside of Paonia when heading north on Hwy 133.
