In total the house has 1 bathroom with shower+toilet, 1 room with shower only and 1 room with toilet+sink. However, there might be another 1-2 people renting a room in the basement. Access to fully equiped kitchen, dining room and living room with TV as well as garden and terrace with electric grill. Every morning there is a self-service breakfast including tea, coffee, milk, soft bread, rye bread, butter, cheese, eggs, jam, cornflakes, muesli and oat flakes. And in the basement, there is a freezer. Wi-fi is available, as well as access to washing machine and iron board + of course an umbrella in rainy Denmark... Maid service with change of towels and bed linen is provided every 4 days of staying for more than 7 nights of reservation – or on your request. I do hope for your understanding that we kindly ask you to motivate your booking with information about who you are traveling with, your age and the purpose of traveling to our city. The reason is that Airbnb has recently changed their settings, and one can no longer see a profile photo until booking has been accepted. I prefer to know a bit about our guests beforehand, as I live with my teens and from time to time I will not be at home. I have always considered my self being pretty good at getting a realistic idea of people's personality by looking at their photo combined with other hosts reviews. This is no longer possible; hence the wish for more detailed information about our guests. I also hope for your understanding that I when you arrive will ask for a photo of your passport, as I like to know who stays in our home. I do apologize to all my fellow Danish citizens. I do like you all – however, we just prefer having foreigners staying with us, as we like the international atmosphere. Kokkedal train station is located 700 m from the house and has direct access to Copenhagen (25 min ride). The two bicycles at your disposal (free of charge) can also be brought on the train and thus be used for sightseeing in Copenhagen. Pick up at Kokkedal station can be arranged free of charge, if arrival outside normal working hours (Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM). Otherwise I will leave a key for you + bicycle(s) to get to the station in 3-4 minutes. Tip: Search for 'LuggageHero', drop your luggage in one of the 50+ storage locations in Copenhagen (EUR 1/hour) and let me pick you up in the afternoon. A travel card (called ‘rejsekort') can be at your disposal when you arrive at our home – this is the cheapest way to get around in Copenhagen and outskirts. Credits for the travel cards can be reloaded online and unused credits will be reimbursed by me at the end of your stay :-) I can also recommend buying a 24, 48, 72 or 120 hours Copenhagen Card, as it is a superb way to get around and includes admission to 79 museums and attractions. You then don’t have to worry about traffic zones and ticket prices, as you get unlimited travel on trains, buses, metro and harbour buses throughout the entire capital region, including to and from the airport and all the way to Helsingore in the north. Sales points you find at Copenhagen Airport (Service Center, terminal 3) and Copenhagen Central Station. Prices: DKK 389/EUR 52 (24 hours), DKK 549/EUR 74 (48 hours), DKK 659/EUR 89 (72 hours) and DKK 889/EUR 120 (120 hours). Child Card (age 10-15) half price. You can read more if going to the web page (Website hidden by Airbnb) (choose English). A third option you might want to consider is buying your own travel card (rejsekort) when you get to Copenhagen Airport or the Central Station. It can save you money when going by train and/or busses, and it can also be shared with others. Without a travel card a one-way ticket for one person from Copenhagen Airport to Kokkedal station costs DKK 84. An anonymous travel card (rejsekort) costs DKK 80 (the card price is non-refundable) and you must deposit DKK 100 on the card to cover the cost of travel. The rejsekort can be used unlimited and gives you discount on the fare compared to single tickets. When using a rejsekort the fare from Copenhagen Airport to Kokkedal station is DKK 48. Within very few journeys by train and bus you thus easily save the DKK 80 you pay up front for the card. For instance, going to and from Copenhagen Central Station from my place will cost one person 2 x DKK 76 compared to 2 x DKK 43 with a rejsekort. Furthermore, you also have to get to the airport again when going home. Go to rejsekort . dk and choose ‘In English’ at the top. Scroll all the way down and click on ‘Rejsekort Anonymous’ at the bottom of the page (under Card types). Under ‘selected points of sale’ you can see that you can buy the rejsekort at vending machines placed at Copenhagen Airport (and at Copenhagen Central Station). When you leave the luggage area at the airport and exit the secured area, you walk straight ahead about 70-80 meters where you find the vending machines on your right side. Feel free to use the kitchen, dining and living room. Most important for us is that you feel at home. Please do not feel you are in our way; we simply share the house when you stay at our place. Do not feel obliged to socialize but from time to time we will be there too ;-) You can reach me anytime – almost 24/7 via messages at airbnb or via Whats-app if I am not in the house. Please do no hesitate to contact me even with the smallest question. I hope for your understanding that I prefer to rent the room to tourists, exchange students and other travelers passing by. I have thus decided not to accept bookings from someone else than the persons actually staying at my place – unless the person booking can inform me of the guests’ names, passport numbers and purpose of visit. Proximity to… • Copenhagen (Østerport/Nørreport) – directly access in 19-23 min. from Kokkedal station • Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk (11 km or 2 train stops / 8 min.) – situated on the North Sealand coast in a spacious, old park with a fine view across the sound of Sweden. Louisiana's collection of modern art has an international perspective and importance including all genres - emphasizing painting and sculpture. The collection is shown partially in varying selected presentations. Every year, the Louisiana Museum shows six to eight major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, including classical masters of modern art as well as new and upcoming international artists. • The Karen Blixen Museum in Rungstedlund (2.5 km on bicycle) – an enchanting park and bird sanctuary. Karen Blixen (lived from 1885 to 1962), considered one of Denmark's most significant 20th century writers, was born in Rungstedlund, where she lived most of her life before and after her years in Africa. From 1914 to 1931, Karen Blixen ran a coffee plantation in the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. Among her best known literary works are the novel Out of Africa, describing this important period of her life, and the short story Babette's Feast, both of which were turned into Oscar-winning films. • The Nivaagaard Collection & Rhododendron Parc in Nivaa (6 km or 1 train stop / 4 min.). The museum is situated in a wonderful park laid out as a romantic garden with large old trees and a great number of rhododendrons. The major part of the park is accessible throughout the year. By the end of May and beginning of June the Rhododendrons are in full bloom and the garden is a veritable bombardment of flowers and colours. The garden is under continuously change as many new rhododendrons are planted every year. • The Arboretum in Hørsholm (3.5 km on bicycle) – a unique collection of trees and bushes that appears as a beautiful park or an exotic forest. It is used for educational and research purposes in botany and plant use. The park is open for the public daily from 7.30 AM to sunset. The collection is made of around 2000 species and is the biggest collection of trees and bushes in Denmark, among others an impressive collection of rhododendron. • Kronborg Castle in Helsingør (22 km or 4 train stops / 17 min.) – probably the most famous Danish castle, known worldwide from Shakespeare's Hamlet. Towering on a promontory in Northern Zealand, Kronborg faces the sound between Elsinore and Helsingborg in Sweden. Grand fortifications with bastions and casemates used to protect the Danish land from unwanted visitors and was home to the royal family until the late 1600 hundreds. A tour of the castle will take you through beautifully decorated rooms with renaissance and baroque interiors that reveal the residents’ decadent lifestyle. Among the main attractions is Frederik II’s fine ballroom and the statue of Ogier the Dane, a mythical national hero that has been sitting in the cold casemates below the castle for hundreds of years. Though the castle is an impressive monument, its fame arose with William Shakespeare’s drama of Hamlet that takes place in the chambers of Kronborg. • Jægersborg Dyrehave and The Hermitage Pavilion in Klampenborg (16 km or 4 train stops / 16 min.) –Dyrehaven, which literally means "the deer park", is a natural resort with lush forests, lakes and wide, open landscapes. Dyrehaven is renowned for the 2.000+ free range deer that inhabit the park, and it is almost impossible not to come across a herd of grazing deer on your way through. In 2015, Dyrehaven was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the par force landscape that was once used for hunting by the Danish royalty. While strolling around the park, make sure to pass by The Hermitage Pavilion, the King's stunning hunting lodge in the heart of the park. • Fredensborg Palace (13 km or 50 min. by bus 150S/365R) – in the palace garden the 250 year-old baroque garden ”Brede Allé" has been deteriorating over a long period. It has now been restored by The Palaces and Cultural Properties Agency with a grant from a large Danish foundation. The reconstruction of the double avenue and the restoring of all of its sculptures have resurrected a major part of the 18th century garden in all its splendour. The result is a baroque garden grand enough to match other large palace gardens in Europe. • Public swimming pool, ‘Hørsholm Svømmehal’ (300 m) • Public beach, ‘Rungsted Badestrand’, 2-3 km on bicycle • Supermarket in walking distance, 500m (open 8AM-10PM) How to get here… From Copenhagen Airport, CPH (Kastrup): Walk 100 meters straight ahead from the exit after luggage pick up, take the train at track 2 towards Helsingør and get off at Kokkedal station; a 44 min. ride. Or take the train towards Nivå and get off at Kokkedal station; a 50 min. ride. Remember to buy ticket before entering the train; adult one way DKK 84. From Copenhagen Central Station: Take the train towards Helsingør and get off at Kokkedal station; a 26 min. ride. Or take the train towards Nivå and get off at Kokkedal station; a 33 min. ride. By car: Use G-o-o-g-le Maps :-) Svalevej 8, 2970 Hørsholm Your host is Gunnar, who lives in the house – mostly with his two teenagers, Victor & Mathilde. We will be delighted to guide you around and give you advice. To our French guests: Maison à Hørsholm, 27km nord de Copenhague. Proche de transports public et de nature pure. Famille à 3 qui parle anglais, allemand et français. Promenez-vous dans la capitale animée en empruntant la rue piétonne la plus longue d'Europe. Copenhague est une ville à taille humaine, où les gratte-ciel sont bannis, ce qui permet une parfaite harmonie entre l'architecture moderne et les canaux pittoresques. Un éventail éclectique de lieux à découvrir, du quartier hippie de Christiana etc.
