Standard bedroom with double bed, BIC, lounging chair, small table, foldable laptop table, rechargeable bedside lights, together with kettle, fan, heater, collapsible stools, and other handy items. Large window (SW-facing) for the afternoon sunlight, facing the front garden but screened from the street by trees with an exterior awning that can be dropped to cut the heat of the afternoon sun. Also fitted with blockout blinds so that you can enjoy a siesta! Kettle (and flask), with coffee and tea basics provided in room. Access is via the main entrance. Lock-up garage for one vehicle (MES) – when MES bedroom is booked, alternative secure parking can be arranged, on request. There is also undercover parking (off-street, in front of garages, with motion-sensor light, but not otherwise secured). Guest lounge with movie option (screen and projector with large DVD selection; DVD player with USB - just bring your laptop!), mini-library and variety of board/card games as well as sports equipment available. Large communal kitchen (with gas cooker for load-shedding - and a range of coffee-making options) with dining area (dining table with seating for four); front stoep facing the street but screened by shrubs; braai area and back stoep (with dart board) and small garden (still under development). Laundry (clothes washing and drying) facilities available in kitchen area. Ironing available, on request and with advance notice. Arrange for groceries ahead of your visit with your host, particularly if you'll be arriving in the evening - Spar closes at 7pm; OK Foods at 8pm. Host lives in separate section of the house, adjoining the kitchen and sharing the communal kitchen, outside areas (including back stoep and front patio), and the main (communal) bathroom. In respect of Covid-19 practices, we will maintain 'social distancing' and sanitisers will be on hand, in your room, at the main entrance and in the common kitchen. Residential area in this small, quiet and farming-based town that is almost entirely surrounded by mountains, with the Theewaterskloof Dam and golf course nearby. This mountainous area enjoys a unique quality of light during the day and a fabulous, clear night sky (weather permitting, of course). Easy walking distance to shops along main street, including grocery stores (Spar, OK Foods, USave), coffee shops and restaurants, Villiersdorp Cellar (wine-tasting and sales), Dale (and Mel) Elliott Art Gallery, public library and the tractor museum. Skilpad Theatre (Vyeboom area) is roughly 20 minutes' driving distance away. Well-located base, roughly centred between the urban centres of Worcester and Caledon, and the attractions of Franschoek (including hiking trails) and the Elgin Valley (including Cape Canopy Tours, Railway Market). Notes: - Uncapped (NOT high-speed) wi-fi is via line-of-sight (radio dish to tower) so can be limited/impacted during inclement weather. - Network (cell and wi-fi) in the area is generally good but is not always reliable or available, and is negatively impacted during load-shedding. - Resident dogs, Firefly and Django :)
