Rooms are simply stunning, with many original features but all the convenience of new - vaulted ceilings and beams meet underfloor heating and gorgeous bathrooms! Every bedroom is ensuite, has a table and chairs for working or a private breakfast, sofa and large flatscreen TV. Breakfast pack can be provided - please contact host. The Chalk Barn is a fully self-contained cottage - with 2 superking ensuite rooms (a further two superking rooms across the yard to accommodate up to 8 people if required - see separate listing or contact host), Egyptian cotton bed linen, Cowshed toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, a large fully equipped kitchen diner, cosy lounge, a patio with Weber BBQ and table/chairs for outdoor dining. Sara and Robert live on site in the Farmhouse so will meet you on arrival and, within reason, are available to help with questions and advice for days out and local restaurants. Compton Bassett is a conservation village - quintessentially English with an award winning pub, thatched cottages, 12thC church, bridlepaths leading to the Ridgeway and the White Horse Trail. But it is also still a working farming community - both arable and livestock - and has a thriving village community. There is a mainline train station at Chippenham (connecting to London, Bath and the South West), a 15-20 minute taxi ride away. Otherwise, visitors are recommended to come by car. There is plenty of covered parking on site, with private garages available for small additional fee if required. An additional bedroom is available if required in a separate barn across the yard - a short walk, on gravel.
