Charming and atmospheric old red painted toddler school with room for 14 incl. large garden with stream, beautiful trees and nice view of fields and forest. The house houses a large, bright fireplace room, 5 good rooms with a view over the countryside, a large modern kitchen, a common living room, utility room, bathroom, toilet and veranda, all cozy and functional with possibility for many activities. The house is an authentic Swedish red-painted wooden house from the beginning of the 20th century, originally used as a children's school with a large school room and the teachers private room and kitchen. The house has since been adapted and the first floor has been restored and put into use in 2008. The bathroom and kitchen are modernized in 2006 and 2016. Today the house is well-kept and cozy furnished with a mix of classic Swedish furniture and more modern touches. The house is located in a beautiful large garden with terrain drops, brook, bonfire, old trees and views of fields and forests. ON THE GROUND FLOOR YOU FIND: A very bright and spacious living room with dining area for 12 and sofas around the central fireplace. A utility room. washing machine and exit to the porch ON THE FIRST FLOOR YOU FIND Three large, good and quiet rooms with double beds A nice and central common room with table tennis table, football game, three single beds and sofa arrangement ANNEX Two extra sleeping places and a small living room for guests who want complete peace during the summer months are found in the annex in the garden. Guests can access and use the entire house and all the fixtures. Agreement regarding keys to the house is concluded with our guests when the booking is in place. We are of course available to our guests on the phone throughout their stay. The house is situated on the edge of the farm Mattarp in a scenic and extensive landscape characterized by hills, forests, lakes and small towns around Hallandsåsen. Five kilometers south is the town of Örkelljunga, with supermarkets, some specialty stores, library, medical center, tourist information, bus station and more. Just 2.5 kilometers east of the house is the beautiful Vemmentorpa lake with sandy beach, bathing bridge, fire place and changing room - a true little paradise. 7 kilometers north of Mattarp is a lovely nature reserve and Kungsbygget amusement park with nature trail (Sommerrodel) and the longest northern cable car (Zipline). 15 km from the house you will find Valåsen - the popular ski resort, which is also worth a trip in the summer. Ca. 25 kilometers northeast is Knäred with the Lagan River, forming several waterfalls and very beautiful swimming possibilities. 30 km west of Mattarp lies the adventurous Kullen and the famous Höganæs with its pottery workshops. 40 kilometers northeast of Mattarp you will find Astrid Lindgren's World in Vimmerby. Southeast of Mattarp, about 40 kilometers, lies Skåne Animal Park, with Nordic animals in a large and beautifully landscaped terrain. 70 kilometers eastwards, there is the exciting Wanås Castle and its associated sculpture park with collection and changing exhibitions of contemporary art. How to get around: BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM COPENHAGEN By the Øresund train you arrive in Helsingør, from where a ferry (Scandlines) sails to Helsingborg. From here, Skåneexpressen, which stops in Örkelljunga, leaves. If you prefer to travel across Malmo, drive the Øresund train via Malmøbroen to either Ängelholm or Häsleholm, from which local buses depart for Örkelljunga (about 35 km). By taxi from Örkelljunga to Mattarp, the last 5 kilometers are completed. BY CAR Exact driving directions are sent upon booking.
