Our character filled detached Victorian property offers a large room with kingsized bed and additional comfy single. The private bathroom has shower/basin/wc. An east facing room fully equipped with blackout curtains/blind Great access to town centre and university. As this is a room only let we offer a welcome pack of food based treats which will help to boost your stay and offer exactly what you need for a lazy morning in bed. All diets catered for with notice. This light and airy room is a wonderful space for those who need to work away from home, study or simply need easy access to all that Colchester has to offer. We are in an urban location a short walk from the Historical Town Centre, Roman Circus and Castle as well as Colchester Town and Hythe rail stations. This makes us ideally suited to people visiting relatives and friends, attending Essex University for short courses, Colchester' theatres & events venues, those in Colchester for work and those who wish to make trips to London without the higher costs. We are a 10 min drive from the Beth Chatto gardens and have great access routes to many of Essex' fine coastal retreats and cycle routes. There is some nearby on street free parking or permits can be purchased for a minimal fee of £1 per day. We want you to feel welcome at Havelock Villa We are a hospitable family home with a small child, so we ask that guest are respectful of this in terms of noise during access/exit particularly late at night - though please do say goodbye when you're leaving the property so we know you are out. We don't like to disturb guests unnecessarily, so it helps to know when you are in or not. The room is well equipped however, do come down and ask us if you require anything extra, we are here to help. We are also available to ask questions about transport, eating out and getting around. Don't be shy, while we do like our privacy, we're also very warm and open. This is a great community neighbourhood well resourced by park, shops, transport links and local National Trust site. Free parking is available very near the property - though directly outside is a controlled parking zone - permits available for an additional daily fee. We are well resourced for local bus routes and trains to London/Ipswich and other local areas. The Hythe and Town stations are a 7-10min walk. The town centre is easily accessed by foot (10mins) or bus outside the park. Many of our visitors have been here for courses at the University and found our place to be ideally suited for their needs. The bus to Essex University stops at the end of the road or it takes 25 minutes to walk. We are only 9 miles from the nearest beach though there are several others a little further out. There are two large nature reserves a short drive away which are great for bird watchers, walkers and nature lovers. Both Essex and neighbouring Suffolk are rich in Historical buildings and gardens, making Colchester an ideal location for day trips, visits and short breaks. We have listed this room as urban. This means we live in an area close to town with great transport routes. The room faces out onto a road which can be moderately busy during rush hours, but generally quite at night. This said we are happily not plagued by noise from police sirens, buses or trains. We have a friendly family cat named Yuri, please keep your door closed unless you wish him to pay a visit to say "Hello!" He's inquisitive.
