LE NUSSBAUM, close to Wine Route & Strasbourg
In this small village of the Kochersberg located on the Route des Vins d’Alsace near Strasbourg, the independent Guest House “Le Nussbaum” is waiting for you – either for a week or a weekend- We chose to give life to this ancient farmhouse dating back to the XVIIth century, where generations of winegrowers have been living.With materials chosen for their environmental friendly quality, we wish to mix traditional architecture to a more contemporary decoration and a warm atmosphere. In this charming gite, a warm atmosphere is rendered thanks to the oak or pinewood framework. You will find ceilings with exposed beams in all the rooms, the raw wooden floors in one of them, the frame of a fireplace in another one or the photos and portraits of great grandparents in another one. In the cottage, at the ground floor, there is a living space of more than 100 sqm : a living room, kitchen and dining room. Framed by the timbers, these rooms are both open but they keep their own personality. In the dining room, you will have your breakfast while considering with an either amused or a nostalgic look, some ancient schooltables dating back to the pre-worldwar 2 period. In the kitchen, you will appreciate the big central worktop and the tiles from a long time ago. In the living room, you will heat yourself near the fireplace with its closed hearth, while admiring the genuine wall made of cob of the XVIIth century and a material wall, a contemporary work, based on family-wallpapers. My parents will be on the place to give the keys (they don't speak english but well german or french... my brother lives not far away from Nordheim and he speak english. Ammenities in Nordheim The guest house is located in the heart of the village ; nearby you will find the restaurant “Le relais du Stéphansberg” ; It serves “tartes flambées “ and other Alsatian speciality during weekends (tartes flambées : it’s composed of dough with sour cream, bacon and onions baked in a traditional oven). We advise you to book in advance telephone number:(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) You may use the playground for children and an area for “pétanque” (i.e: French bowls).There is a catholic church in the village too. “La Ferme du Cabri” (the small goat’s farm) sells lots of specialities ; it is located 15 minutes’walk through the vineyard ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). In Nordheim, you will also find a village café, an area to sort out selectively the household waste (paper, glass, plastic) etc. All kinds of shops 2km away Marlenheim is a small town where you will find all sorts of shops and services such as a supermarket (Simply market. Opening time:from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to8:pm), a mini market “VivreBio” ( “Organic way of life ”), a mechanic, a dry cleaner, butchers, bakers, a beauty saloon, a florist (URL HIDDEN) well as General Practitioners and specialists (you will find their names and addresses at the guest house ). You may also find restaurants in the area , among them “le Cerf” which has been rated as a gastronomic one (with stars ) for over 70 years. Go ahead until the roundabout at the entrance of Molsheim • Bypassthetown,followingthedirection “Saverne” until the crossroad with the D30, where you should turn right , to the direction of “Furdenheim” How to get to the Guest house 1/2 • In Nordheim, when you arrive from Marlenheim : go into the village. After 500m, at the small roundabout , turn left and then go straight away, turn right into the “rue de l’école”. At the end of the road, the guest house is on your right ,on the corner of the “rue de la mairie”. If necessary, you may rent a car or call a taxi there. By train Thanks to the TGV Est Strasbourg is, from now on, 2:20 hours from Paris. Soon, with the TGV Rhin/Rhône, Lyon will be 2:50 hours away. From the station of Strasbourg You may take a bus line from the CTS ; more information : (URL HIDDEN) • At the traffic lights, turn left to the RD1004 towards “Marlenheim” • AttheentranceofMarlenheim,afterthe roundabout, turn right to Nordheim. From Strasbourg (20 mn) • • Follow the direction Nancy-Metz through D 1004. Take the motorway A 351 and follow the D 1004. Drive through Ittenheim and Furdenheim. At the entrance of Marlenheim, after the roundabout, turn right to Nordheim. From Paris • Take the motorway A4 until the exit: “Saverne”. • After the toll, go on, on the D1404 , then on the D 1004 to the direction of Strasbourg. Stay on the D 1004 until Marlenheim (you will drive through Singrist, Marmoutier,Wasselone). • Drive through Marlenheim. When leaving the town, after the “hostellerie Reeb”, turn left to the direction of Nordheim. The house and its outbuildings compose a square main body of the farm, with an inside yard. The barn, a building with a double porch, hosts a former wine press and a sheltered garden living room. Some guests will enjoy this quiet space, whereas the yard will be appreciated by the younger ones, with its swings, table tennis set, and other games for children. Living rooms The dining room A big table, 10 chairs, a cupboard in which you will find the crookery (soup plates, plates, dessert plates, tea plates, coffee cups, dishes, salad bowls, unbreakable crookery for young children etc...), glassware, two sets of “raclette” (2x6 persons) (Raclette i.e: to melt cheese to be served with boiled potatoes and cold meat), a “kougelhopf” mould, a “baeckeoffe” dish, a champagne bucket, decanters, different implements, a small hoover. A library for readers of all age reading French, German, English or Spanish, two school benches, a diversified offer of tourist information and maps available (hiking, cycling tracks...). The living room (grd floor) The living room is composed of two sofas, two armchairs, a coffee table, a cupboard containing a hi- fi stereo system (CD reader, DVD, DIVC), board games, cards, and games for children. A flat screen television and a telephone (it is possible to get all telephone calls but you can only make emergency calls ) WIFI internet connexion (freebox). A fireplace with a glass screen for permanent fire; the flue is visible until the rooftop. A basket of logs is available; some more may be delivered at request for 10 Euros (to be paid at the delivery). The kitchen A fitted kitchen, open on the living room and the dining room. Main amenities : oven, extractor, ceramic hob, fridges, micro wave , a multipurpose food processor, coffee machines, a toaster etc... Among kitchen utensil you may find: a big pressure cooker, pans, tart dishes etc.
