The Hen Hut is a warm, self contained annex in the grounds of Casio Cottage on the outskirts of Shilton, a quintessential English village. The medieval town of Burford is within walking distance. Shilton surrounds the Shil Brook and pond. It is mentioned in a document from 1205 as a small farming village. Later, it became a thriving farming community. The local pub, the Rose and Crown dates from the 1600s. The village was featured in the popular television series, Downton Abbey. The Hen Hut is a self contained property with its own off road parking. The accommodation offers a warm and comfortable feel with a double bedroom, living/kitchen room and a bathroom . The bathroom includes a bath and shower head with toiletries, towels etc. The kitchen is accommodated with a cooker, dish washer, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The comfortable lounge area has a TV with games and books for entertainment. Wi Fi is available throughout the property. Garden furniture allows for outside seating. Well mannered horses and two dogs live on site. Hence a well behaved dog is always welcome. We request that dogs do not lie on the furniture. Poo bags, feed bowls, towels and blankets are provided. Ample dog walks in the near vicinity. Dog crates can be provided. Babies are welcome - a travel cot is available. Access to the Hen Hut is off a quiet lane half a mile out of Shilton village via two large iron gates. The entrance is a spacious graveled drive with plenty of room for cars and bikes. Car parking is private and secure. The yard is perfect for your dog to run free in a safe and secure setting. The property is self check in with a key safe by the door. The owners live on site in a property alongside the Hen Hut. They are available for any advice or help needed. The picturesque village of Shilton is within easy walking distance i.e. 5 minutes. It is a delightful, quiet, quintessential Cotswold village near to Burford, a medieval town. Shilton is home to the Holy Rood church, parts of which are reported to date back to the 12th century. We also have a small Baptist chapel. Our local pub the Rose and Crown serves quality food. Shilton known for its appearance in Downton Abbey. There are plentiful shops and restaurants in nearby Burford and Carterton. The Cotswold Wild Animal Park is within a mile. A visit to Blenheim palace is a must. Oxford, Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester are essential for shopoholics This is horse lovers country with easy access to the international three day events i.e Blenheim and Badminton. Shilton is on the bus route to Carterton and/or Burford where public transport takes you to Witney, Oxford or Cheltenham. Frequent and reliable trains take you to London from Oxford. The many walks surrounding the village connect you to further walks allowing you to enjoy the delightful villages in the area. Cyclists love the area for its safety and easy access.
