Hurst Farm - Room 2
Room 2 at Hurst Farm is on the second floor. There is a kingsize bed and wardrobe with drawers below. The en-suite bathroom is very popular, with a huge, deep freestanding bath giving uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside, perfect for a sunset soak. There is no separate shower cubicle. Room 2 can be booked with Room 3 (see separate listing) to make a small family suite as they are the only rooms on that floor, and directly opposite one another. We are a storybook farm, with a mixture of livestock and arable; orchards, fields and woods. The main farmhouse was built sometime between 1390 and 1410, with various more recent additions throughout the centuries, culminating with the recently completed guest accommodation. There are a number of Victorian outbuildings, including a traditional Kentish oasthouse. Currently we have a small herd of prize-winning rare breed cattle, a flock of tenant sheep, four chickens, a cat, a dog and some Koi. We run a productive kitchen garden, a cobnut platt and opened an outdoor swimming pool in June 2016. We even have our own ‘henge’, a group of sitting stones at the top of the hill, reputedly installed by a Victorian farmer so he could picnic with his family and survey his land. There are some beautiful walks across our own 120 acres, and in the summer there may the opportunity to play on our grass tennis court. Guests have shared use of the first floor guest kitchen/sitting room where they can prepare snacks and simple meals and enjoy the view. They may use the pool and tennis court in season, and walk across our farmland. There will always be someone here to check you in and out, as well as help with any queries. However, we are a BandB rather a hotel and can't offer 24-hour service. We are a short walk from the centre of the Kentish village of Crockham Hill, which has a pub (serving locally brewed beer and simple, homecooked meals), church, primary school and village hall. We recommend you have use of a car when staying here, as public transport is minimal. The closest stations are Oxted, Edenbridge and Edenbridge Town. Taxis can be reserved but there can be busy times when they are not available.
