Meadowsweet Cottage is a traditional timber framed Grade II listed Suffolk cottage. It is one of the oldest dwellings in Metfield and has been carefully renovated to retain the original character of the building whilst providing comfort and abundant modern conveniences. It is furnished with both antique and contemporary pieces to give the cottage a stylish, yet comfortable feel. Sunday late departure 12 noon 1 friendly dog welcome, Meadowsweet's soft lime washed beams make it light and airy, whilst the wood burner and underfloor heating beneath the brick floor make it a perfect cosy retreat. The private south facing back garden is not overlooked by neighbours. There is an antique French dining table with chairs and a large parasol to give shade if needed. Additional outdoor easy chairs are found in the adjoining brick shed. We welcome one, well- behaved dog. The garden is fenced on all sides and is completely dog proof. There is a charge of £20 per dog . We ask that dogs do not go upstairs and are not left unattended in the cottage. we can provide a dog crate, bowls and dog towel. We provide Egyptian cotton sheets and fresh towels, hand soap and shower gel for our guests. Both bedrooms have thermostatically controlled radiators. There is very good wifi connection at the cottage and Free Netflix is available for you to watch on the TV. The location offers a wonderful setting in the Suffolk Countryside, yet is only a 25-minute drive to Southwold and the Suffolk Coast via the market town of Halesworth, whilst the castle towns of Bungay, Eye and Framlingham are all within easy reach. The charm of Meadowsweet is reflected in the care and attention given to the design of the cottage, which has the benefit of both a kitchen/dining room and a separate sitting room with a cosy wood-burning stove set into a large inglenook fireplace. The kitchen has modern appliances and is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, electric oven and induction hob, microwave oven, toaster, Lavasso coffee machine. An additional small fridge and a washer/dryer are available in the utility room. There is a good range of cooking utensils and crockery for those who enjoy cooking. Upstairs the master bedroom has a king size bed and the single bedroom has a 4' bed. The bathroom includes a roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. The cottage is centrally heated and also has a wood burning stove which makes it perfect for cosy evenings relaxing after a day's walking or exploring all that the area has to offer. A basket of wood is provided with kindling and firelights. Additional wood can be purchased in the village stores. The brick ground floor has underfloor heating throughout. We can provide a travel cot for infants under a year but unfortunately, Meadowsweet Cottage is not suitable for toddlers or young children under 6 years old. Guests have access to the entire cottage and private enclosed garden. Meadowsweet Cottage is well set back from the road with plenty of off road parking for two cars. There is a key safe to let yourselves in and I will contact you to check that everything is ok. However with the corona virus still circulating, I will always respect your privacy. I live a couple of miles away in Linstead and will do everything I can to make your stay enjoyable. The location offers a wonderful setting in the Suffolk Countryside, yet is only a 25-minute drive to Southwold and the Suffolk Coast via the market town of Halesworth, whilst the castle towns of Bungay, Eye and Framlingham are all within easy reach. Metfield is a quiet thriving village that welcomes visitors and the Village Hall website lists up and coming events that you might enjoy during your stay. The village shop stocks a good range of local food and beers and basics. Order artisan bread for collection (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) There are many footpaths through and around Metfield perfect for exploring and walks with your dog. Private parking for two cars on the gravel drive to the side of the front of the property. If you are planning on escaping the city and just relaxing then Diss- 11 miles away, mainline railway station from London Liverpool Street/Norwich, Greater Anglia Rail, every half hour with taxis at Diss, 1 hour 30 mins from London and 20 mins taxi- Please ask if you need the number of local taxi firms. Halesworth mainline station is on the London Liverpool Street/ Lowestoft line change at Ipswich on the hour. 2-hour 30mins rail journey 10 mins taxi from Halesworth-8 miles away. nearest petrol station is in Harleston 6 miles A welcome pack of tea, milk, and homemade cake for you to enjoy on your arrival. You will find some basic ingredients, salt, pepper, and sugar in the larder for your use. T Towels & cleaning agents are provided. The village shop stocks a good range of local produce and is open every day. Egyptian cotton sheets and towels are provided. There is a charge of £20 per dog. Check-in is from 4 pm, earlier is sometimes possible ( please ask nearer to your stay) until late. Check-out time is a leisurely departure at 10 am weekdays and Saturday, 12 noon on Sunday.
