The Annexe at Soberton Lodge is situated in the beautiful Meon Valley and South Downs National Park. It sleeps four in two sunny and attractive self-contained studio apartments, one upstairs (smaller) and one downstairs. It has its own pretty courtyard with ample seating and shared use of the garden and heated swimming pool (May to 1st Oct). Ideal for walkers, cyclists and riders as it has direct access to the Meon Way and surrounding countryside. Lockable bike storage and Ultra Fast Wi-Fi The annexe is a great base for those walkers, cyclists or riders that want to explore the Meon Valley and South Downs National Park, as it connects directly from the grounds to The Meon Way which links to the Forest of Bere and South Downs Way. Stunning countryside and ancient woodland on your doorstep with attractive medieval villages nearby and country pubs - many of which are dog friendly. This listing is for the whole annexe which has two self-contained studios, and a lobby area for coats and boots. Ideal for families or friends, as with two self-contained studios it offers a very flexible space - you can watch different TV's and cook separately if you wish. The downstairs annexe studio has zipped and linked beds which can be twin or a super-kingsize double. A lovely big bathroom with shower and well equipped kitchen. The French doors open out onto a pretty, sunny (south facing) courtyard area with plenty of seating and two water features. This is suitable for babies and children. The upstairs annexe studio is smaller with a small en-suite shower room and kitchen area, but is very sunny with a view over the pool. and French doors with a Juliette balcony. It has a double bed, but also a small double sofa bed (Ikea memory foam) which is a nice sofa to watch the TV. As it is upstairs and is smaller, this is not really suitable for young children - there are open stairs and bannisters. The annexe has ultra fast broadband which can have a wired or wi fi connection. Both studios have SMART TV's with Netflix etc. There is the option to have an office space - please let us know if you would require this. Parking is at the rear of the annexe and there is lockable storage for any bikes. The annexe guests are welcome to use the courtyard which has dining/seating areas, and share some of our large garden (3.5 acres) and heated swimming pool by arrangement. Although the pool is available most of the time - just roll the cover back and help yourselves. However the pool is not open all year round (generally 1st May to 1st Oct) and is not fenced off, so children and pets must be supervised. We have a friendly if excitable collie, that has free rein in the garden and two ponies in the paddock. The menege and paddock are fenced but still accessible and so again animals and children would need to be supervised and are not allowed in the paddock or menege. You will need a car to access the local villages and towns as there is no public transport. The nearest train stations are fareham and Botley, with direct links to London Waterloo. Wickham and local pubs can be walked to along the Meon Way. Richard and Julia are newly retired and ready to host guests in their lovely annexe, sharing their heated swimming pool and large garden. We live in the main house and so are on hand to answer any queries and to make sure your stay is happy and comfortable. The South Downs National Park and Meon Valley are beautiful with lovely walks and chalk streams. Ancient woodlands such as The Forest of Bere are beautiful - especially in bluebell season. Old Winchester Hill is nearby as is the medieval towns of Wickham and Bishops Waltham. Both of these are pretty with lovely cafes and independent shops. The Meon valley is steeped in history and East Meon is linked to Bayeaux and features in the Bayeaux Museum. The Cathedral cities of Winchester and Chichester are 25 minutes away, together with many other attractions such as The Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth, the New Forest, River Hamble (for sailing), beaches and nature reserves and Goodwood Racecourse. Some pubs are walkable such as The Roebuck or The White Lion at Soberton - both of which are dog friendly. There is a local trekking centre in Soberton: "South Downs Trekking" and many other riding centres. You will need a car to access the wider area, but Wickham can be walked or cycled to (3 miles). The local train stations are at Fareham and Botley, but we are not on a bus route. The pool is now closed and open again 1st May 2022.
