Cressbrook is one of our two rooms both of which have views of the garden and river. They are of a luxury standard with antique furniture, Egyptian cotton bedding and tea and coffee facilities. Cressbrook is an en-suite double bedroom with some interesting features including an immersive mirrored vanity area and a built-in wardrobe. We have stunning views of the gardens and river Wye from the house. Please enjoy our riverside seating where you will see a variety of wildlife. A short walk up a path the other side of the river bridge is the Monsal Trail; a traffic free route for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users through some of the Peak District's most spectacular limestone dales. Outdoor pursuits, including hiking, rock climbing, cycling, kayaking, horse riding and paragliding are all close at hand, and if you prefer a more relaxing day you can take a very easy and pleasant stroll down our lane to Litton Mill, stopping at the multi award winning real ale pub, The Angler’s Rest, which is just next door to us, on the way back. If you’re feeling slightly more adventurous you can walk the other way along the river and quickly find yourself in meandering gorges that can feel quite other-worldly at times. A short drive or bike ride north brings you through picturesque Tideswell and out into the stunning Hope valley, home to the Blue John, Peak and Speedwell Caverns, Mam Tor, and a variety of attractions in Castleton. Ten minutes east along the A6 you’ll find the delightfully quaint Ashford in the Water and just on from there the vibrant village of Bakewell. Go the other way and you’ll be in Buxton in no time, home to the beautiful Pavilion Gardens, Buxton Opera House, Poole’s Cavern & Country Park and Go Ape. We’re also perfectly positioned as a base to visit various National Trust and English Heritage sites including Chatsworth House, Peveril Castle, Lyme Park and the Longshaw Estate. Within walking distance are some of the most famous climbing routes in the Peak District, including Ravenstor (or Raventor) just a few minutes down the lane. Easily accessible by car. Bus stop right outside with services to Bakewell, Buxton, Sheffield, Chesterfield. Buxton train station is approximately 6 miles away, and Manchester airport approximately 30 miles away. I am a Cordon Bleu chef and a specialist in gluten free cuisine, so I am confident you will be more than happy with your breakfast. Whether you choose traditional English or continental, and if you have a food allergy or intolerance, all ingredients are locally sourced and of the highest quality. Picnics are available if ordered in advance, both walker style and luxury hamper.
