De Gortla; in a typical dutch village (Back side)

Experience how it feels to live in a typical dutch (Holland) village! We, Peter and Lia, live here for about 25 years with our family. We are carpenters and we sell our handmade furniture in our own small shop at our property. We made our guesthouse "De Gortla". We love to travel and be in our garden (as you can see). We know how it is to experience someone else's habitat. We very much appreciate this hospitality from the people we visit on our travels and love to share ours with you. Since we are getting (a bit) older and our kids are not living with us anymore, we renovated our beautiful workshop into apartments to share our cozy Dutch accommodation and garden with you. You will stay in our former workshop which we split into 2 cozy apartments. There is a fully equipped kitchen in each of the apartments, were you find your breakfast in the fridge. You will have your on living room with comfortable sofa chairs, TV with internet access and dining table. The living room also contains one of the beds. There is separate storage space for your suitcases or luggage at the entrance to your own bathroom. Upstairs is a bedroom with a small seating area. Bedding layout: Upstairs: 1 double bed (160cm) or 2 single beds. Downstairs: 1 single bed or 1 double bed (160cm, this is not a sofa bed!). We can add an extra bed on the first floor, we have a cradle and high chair available. Rooms: Upstairs: bedroom, small seating area. Ground floor: kitchen, bathroom, living room, patio/terras. The building contains only 2 apartments. You have your own entrance, patio and terras. Your own kitchen, bathroom and living room on the ground floor, the bedroom is upstairs. We want to excel in hospitality and services though this doesn't mean that you don't have your privacy. We help you with anything you need though it's up to you to reach out to us. Since we have our shop and carpentry at the property we will always be around. (You won't notice this and you wont have any (noise) disturbance from us of course) We can take you to places nearby or pick you up from the train station on request. Please let us know if you need any other groceries which we can arrange for you. Visit the original windmill at the corner of the street. Be lucky and take pictures at the tulip fields on walking distance (April until May). Go to Schellinkhout and meet the cows and the beautiful Markermeer. Get recommendations for your visit of Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Amsterdam and Volendam. Oosterblokker, Blokker and Zwaag are a very typical villages in Noord-Holland only 35km for Amsterdam. There is an original Dutch windmill, farmlands and a rich history which we can tell you everything about, since we ran a none profit organisation to preserve local historical information. Schellinkhout and The Markermeer (the lake in the middle of Holland) are within 5km which is perfect for a walk or bicycle tour (Bikes available on request). In Schellinkhout you find typical farms with cows and other cattle which can be visited as well. Around the lake you will find several beaches and during the summer those are the perfect spot to swim and enjoy the sun. The area is also well know for its Water sports locations. There are plenty of harbours in Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Andijk and elsewhere. Those places are also known for its (kite)surf spots. If you come by car you can also easily visit the beaches at the North sea which is only 35km away. Reach us by taxi: - From Schiphol, 40 min drive approx. 80eu Reach us by public transport: Train from Schiphol to Hoorn - Train every 30 min, 45 min travel 11 eu pp - Taxi from train station Hoorn to accommodation 14eu - If available the bus stop for bus 415 is 5 minutes walk from our accommodation. Please contact us if you want to travel by public transport. If available we can pick you up from Hoorn Kersenboogerd train station as wel though only on request. To Amsterdam: If you want to visit Amsterdam we recommend you to take the bus (5 min walk) from our house which leaves at 8/9/10/11 in the morning and takes you to Amsterdam central station within one hour. The price is about 12 euro's one way per person. Take the same train back as described and we can plan your transfer form the train station if busservices are not available. Baby's and children are very welcome, though we do not have fences at the stairs and pond. Both accommodations have a closed fireplace.
