A cosy cottage in the New Forest

Rufus Cottage is the perfect place for couples and families to enjoy the New Forest. It is located within the National Park. Walk or cycle into the forest from the front door. Golf, tennis, Peppa Pig World, Longdown activity farm, New Forest Wildlife park and the many activities and museums nearby or Southampton are all close by. Our changeover days are Friday during the summer and Monday and Friday during the rest of the year. There is an EV charger in the station car park. Rufus Cottage is a newly refurbished, traditionally built cottage set back from Ashurst New Forest rail station. It is perfect for cycling, walking, golf or tennis and is a short cycle or drive from many of the New forest activities. Ideal for visiting Peppa Pig World. If you don't want to take the car then this is an ideal base. Arrive by train and explore on foot, on the open topped bus, bike or train. The New Forest Golf Club is 2 miles up the road and guests have a 25% discount here. The Brand New Forest card on your key fob gets 15% off most food in the New Forest Hotel. This is a self catering cottage so our guests are quite independent and we don't usually meet with them; but we live less than a mile away and are always available for a chat or advice. Our cottage is in a fantastic location. You can walk or cycle straight from the door and into the open forest in 100yds. The location close to the New Forest pub means you don't need to cook if you don't want to and the list of attractions to visit is very long (Paultons Park, Longdown dairy farm, Beaulieu Motor museum, New Forest Wildlife Centre, New Forest Museum, Reptile Centre, New Forest Golf club..... There is parking for 2 cars; but if you want to holiday without a car this is a great place. Train from London is about 1 1/2 hrs straight to the cottage. To travel around the forest you can walk or take the open topped bus, or train again or cycle from the location. Bike hire companies will deliver bikes to the cottage for you if you aren't bringing your own. There is a small patio with barbeque. There are seasonal herbs growing in pots if you would like to use them for cooking. Our guests have been surprised how much space there is.
