Spacious cottage with ensuites on Ditchling Common
The Cottage is a spacious, peaceful and comfortable single story cottage on Ditchling Common in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Recently renovated and extended, there are two large double ensuite bedrooms, excellent wifi and a south facing garden for guests. Located down a private lane in a secure complex , footpaths over the Common lead from our gate. We are close to the pretty villages of Ditchling, Cuckfield and Lindfield, with easy access to Brighton, Glyndebourne and Gatwick Airport. The Cottage is light and airy. The two ensuite bedrooms each have a 5 ft bed, French windows to the terrace and large fitted wardrobes with shelving and full length hanging space. One ensuite has a walk in shower, the other a bath with shower above. The sitting room has a leather sofa and two arm chairs, and there is a large wall mounted tv and the 4G wifi hub. The beams on the ceiling are from our old barn. In the winter you may have an open fire (initial supply of logs is provided free of charge). There are folding doors along one side of the room to a large terrace outside, with a wooden table and four chairs, two loungers and a BBQ for you to use in the summer. The dining room furniture is classic Ercol and the kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave and washer/drier. There is a welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits for you on arrival. There is secure parking for one car inside our electric gate, with space for another car outside. The car parking area is also used by us (myself and husband Guy) and another family who also live here. There is a private terrace and garden for your use. The remaining garden areas are for our personal use. I like to welcome guests when they arrive whenever possible. Guy and I live next-door and can be contacted by phone or by coming to our back door. We enjoy having guests from all over the world and Guy speaks good French. You can walk out of the gate onto Ditchling Common. The blossom and wild flowers are particularly lovely in the Spring. You might hear a nightingale, cuckoo or woodpecker and see swallows. Cattle and ponies graze on the common at certain times of the year. The lovely village of Ditchling with good pubs and cafes is a two to three mile walk or five minute drive. There are lots of footpaths and bridle paths over the Common. Our property was originally a farm before becoming a Horse Stud and Riding School, now closed. Although not accessible to guests, we have a renovated barn and cart shed here, and other outbuildings including a former cowshed. We would like to reassure all our guests that during these challenging times the cottage is being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between stays.
