Therefore we ask for feedback to make your stay as perfect as possible. We love this quiet, green district of Aachen, because we are very quickly in the old city of Aachen and in the countryside from here. A very small nature reserve with a small lake and many wild birds is located directly behind our (often) sunny garden. Laurensberg-Vetschau is reminiscent of a village, and yet the town, the university campus, the clinic and the Soers Sports Park - to name but a few examples - are very close by and can be reached easily and quickly by car, bus or bicycle. It is only a few meters to the next bus stop. It is said that more horses live here than people - which is definitely not true ;-). But horse lovers will come to one of the 3 riding stables to enjoy their hobby. From here it is a 10 min drive to the Soers, where the World Equestrian Festival takes place every year - in 2015 the European Championship will take place as well. A folk festival with high level and a lot of program - not only for horse lovers. Walkers, hikers, cyclists, joggers, etc. will find many paths right on the doorstep with wide views over the city, into the Netherlands and as far as Belgium or the Eifel. Tips for excursions - be it to Aachen city centre or to the nearby Limburg "Switzerland" ("Heuvelland" in the Netherlands) by bike, car or bus or historical train (stop approx. 400 m, trips to the "Limburg Switzerland") - we are happy to give you tips and are happy to assist you with many more. A few suggestions: - Aachen's old town and the student quarter, with numerous street cafes and restaurants between Ponttor and cathedral, at the market and the court - Due to its location on the border to Belgium and the Netherlands, you will quickly find very different cultures and landscapes on all 3 sides of the border triangle. - Emperor Charlemagne is present everywhere in Aachen and the Centre Charlemagne is worth a visit. So it is still worthwhile today to bathe or take a sauna in the thermal water of the Carolus Thermen - or to drink a healthy and strong-smelling cup of spring water in the Elisenbrunnen. - the Eifel with the historic old town of Monschau, the Rursee and the National Park - Belgium with the High Fagnes nature reserve, cities such as Liège, Spa, Eupen, Malmedy, medieval Limburg and the Franchochamps Formula 1 race track. - Netherlands with the Meuse landscape and cities like Maastricht, Heerlen and the touristically very attractive "Limburg Switzerland - and in the immediate vicinity of the Wurmtal, the Aachener Wald, the Heuvelland directly behind the border to the Netherlands, but also the Blausteinsee and the gigantic open-cast mines towards Düren/Jülich and Cologne. What even many people in Aachen do not know: In the area of the "Euregio Meuse-Rhine", in the middle of which Aachen lies, live almost 4 million people. Aachen is part of the "Aachen City Region" - a model project in which the city and district together form the administration. More than half a million people live here alone, about half of them in Aachen itself. In Aachen's north and west, the city and state borders to the Dutch and Belgian cities of Heerlen, Kerkrade, Simpelveld/Bocholtz, Vaals, Kelmis-Plombières, Raeren... You read: We love this place and the area :-)!
