Double en-suite room & cosy lounge with breakfast

The Rowan Suite is self-contained within my house, giving you quiet, private accommodation . It is an ensuite double bedroom with king size bed plus your own unique lounge, overlooking garden and woodland. There is car parking and bike storage and is only a short walk from Stocksfield rail station and bus routes. Great base for trips to Hadrian’s Wall, historic properties, Northumberland National Park and the nearby towns of Corbridge and Hexham. A hamper of breakfast goodies is provided. The price includes breakfast. To maintain your comfort and social distancing, all breakfast items will be stocked into the fridge before your arrival. This will include granola, organic yoghurts, fresh fruit and delicious bread with a selection of jams and butter. There will be fresh milk and fruit juice - and a good stock of coffee, tea and herb teas. You'll have the convenience of having breakfast at whatever time you please ... or even taking it back to bed for that real holiday vibe! I am following the AirBnB enhanced cleaning protocols and additional cleaning products will be left in the suite for your use while you are here, to help assure your comfort. I will meet you outside the house to ensure social distancing and show you the way to the space and answer any queries you may have. Unless there's any problem, we don't need further interaction, but I'll make sure you have my phone number in case of queries. You'll have a key to the door and will be able to come and go as you please. The Rowan Suite is the upstairs of a recent extension. It is reached by a separate staircase from that in the main house, so there is an instant feeling of privacy. The staircase opens into a lovely lounge, full of light and with a cosy woodburner for cooler days. The bedroom, with its ensuite shower room, is through a door from the living room. The view, which many guests comment on, is over woodland and gardens, and is very tranquil and green. It gives a timeless sense of being right in the countryside, yet you are only a 5 minute walk from Stocksfield railway station. The living room for guests has a bi-fold door and Juliette balcony , and when fully open the whole room becomes almost an outdoor space. Lovely for lazing in the sun or watching the night sky! The house is also home to a dog and 2 cats. There is a kettle and toaster - and a fridge which will be stocked with breakfast items. Guests are welcome to bring picnic type feasts and takeaway food for other meals if not eating out. Crockery will be provided and replenished daily - I do all your washing up! The Rowan Suite is completely for guest use and is self-contained within my house. The is a shared entrance hall but the suite has its own internal doors which separate it from other areas of the house, so it is self contained. I will meet you outside the house to ensure social distancing and show you the way to the space and answer any queries you may have. I'll be happy to answer queries and chat at a distance! I ensure that guests have my mobile number on arrival so there is a safe and immediate way to contact me if queries arise. My house is on a very ordinary street - but the interior space is very special. The back overlooks woodland which is tranquil and accessible - and there are local walks through more woods and along a local burn. One of my guests recently uploaded a video of the view from the lounge's Juliette balcony - it's on You Tube as 'Rowan Suite New Ridley'. The Rowan Suite is not a self-catering property, however I'm very happy if guests wish to bring their own 'picnic feast' to have for an evening meal instead of trying to find somewhere open - or to avoid having to drive further after arrival. Imagine a relaxed evening, with a tapas-like feast of snacks and dips and bottle of something fizzy! If you do wish to eat oiut, nearby, Prudhoe (c 3 miles) has several restaurants and take-aways - Indian, Italian, Chinese and fish and chip and the Wellington pub in Riding Mill (2 miles and accessible by train and bus) serves food. The Blue Bell Inn, Mickley just outside Stocksfield has just re-opened (August 2020) and serves food and a friendly welcome! Also nearby is the acclaimed Feathers Inn at Hedley on the Hill which has an exciting outdoor 'fire kitchen' created especially to accommodate outdoor eating. Local market towns of Corbridge and Hexham both have an excellent selection of pubs, coffee houses and restaurants and plenty of independent shops ( Obviously restrictions will be in place at the current time). Stocksfield makes a good base for days out to explore sections of Hadrian's Wall, The Sill Landscape Centre, Beamish Museum, English Heritage or National Trust properties such as Belsay Hall, Wallington Hall and Gibside - as well as heading into Newcastle. There are a number of local artists and crafts people offering workshops and courses in the area - The Rowan Suite is perfect accommodation while you learn a new skill. The Suite is also ideal if you're attending a wedding or other event in the area. With it's separate staircase, once you have checked in, it doesn't matter how late you arrive back again, you won't need to worry too much about disturbing the household. It's only 4 .5 miles to Healey Barn and 8.5 miles to Vallum Farm - both award winning local wedding venues, so you can always get a taxi and leave your car. I'm happy to consider early check-ins for you to change/leave luggage, car etc if you're attending an afternoon ceremony. Just ask! (And don't overlook proximity to train and bus routes- you don't even need a car to get here) The house is a 5 minute walk from Stocksfield Railway station which has an hourly service to Newcastle, Hexham and Carlisle. It is also close to bus routes between Newcastle and Hexham, and less than a mile from the National Cycle Network. There is off road parking available for one guest car and secure storage and washing facilities for bikes. Stocksfield is not far from the A68 and can be an ideal journey break if you're travelling to or from Scotland.
