It's one of the smallest dwellings in Thurlstone, which isn't a bad thing as it's just perfect for 1-3 guests and easy to keep warm and cosy. A quiet little under-dwelling with loads of character and a pretty, rural view. The building is listed, built in 1840, plenty of roadside parking. You'll have access to the whole house, including living room, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. There is an outdoor seating area. There's a desk if you want to work which doubles up as an eating area, a cosy lounging area and a convenient kitchen. There is a hanging area for clothes and towels too. If you need any help I will be available as I will be staying in the next village when I have guests. Thurlstone is a quiet country town with a pub, free roadside parking, a small shop and lots of walks. Penistone is a market town and just 20 minutes away by foot. The award winning Huntsman Pub is a short stroll away, it's very popular with real ale drinkers and does amazing Sunday dinners and homemade pies. The new Fox Valley Mall is located nearby, it has plenty of shops and various restaurants. 10 minute drive. Also a 15 minute walk from the house is an Italian restaurant based in an old blacksmith forge (Tiamo) I think it is very good, fairly expensive (but quality) specials and reasonably priced pizza and pasta with 241 on Sundays and Tuesdays. Across the road from this is an Indian restaurant, very tasty food and reasonable prices (Taste of India). The White Hart is a highly rated pub/wine bar situated between and also does food. The Trans Pennines trail (five mins from my cottage) is perfect for biking and walking. You can rent bikes on the trail, half a day for £18. Or you can rent my city bike, helmet and lock for £10 a day. Langsett Resevoir is a very picturesque walk with a pub and cafe at its base, it's a 40 minute walk to get there, or five minute drive (recommended) Cannon Hall and Cawthorne Park is a ten minute drive away. Recommended!! The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is also close for drivers. There is a bus stop to the market town of Penistone just outside my house, or it takes about 20 minutes to walk. In Penistone you can catch a train to Sheffield, Huddersfield etc, they run every hour. Aside from a local market Penistone has a Tesco, numerous cafes, a charity shop, antique shops and a Butchers. You can catch the bus to Holmfirth from Thurlstone and it takes half an hour. More than one an hour. Bus timetables will be left in the cottage for you. Please note that guests are requested to put their own bedding and towels in the linen basket or washer on the day of departure. There is a washer in the property, but it is not suitable for guest use. If this is an issue for you and you would like to do a bit of washing, please speak to me as I might be able to help.
