**WE ARE NOT TAKING RESERVATIONS FOR 2022 UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1ST 2021** When Maine started using the phrase "The way life should be" they had this place in mind. And if you find that hard to believe - well take my word for it they couldn't have found any better spot anyway. If you must stay on the water then this is the place and believe me you simply can not get any closer. You'll be lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the surf breaking against the rocks on the beach right outside your door. The views are spectacular to say the least. Make the last turn on the road when you get to the ocean and you've reached your destination. Don't worry about missing it. You can't go any farther without a boat. Sitting at the end of the lane this three bedroom cottage is in town but still off the beaten path so to speak. It's private and quiet and it is easy feel like you are all alone in the world except of course for the lobster boats pulling their traps in the morning and the resident eagles soaring overhead all day. From here you will be able to walk to all the shops, businesses and everything else the Winter Harbor has to offer. Or hike to the park to enjoy all it's natural treasures. Treat yourself this year. Experience a little bit of life in the slow lane and real downeast pleasures. One other thing I should mention are the grounds. You will have hundreds of feet of private oceanfront to explore and get your feet wet. The Area Here you can have remote, secluded, quiet or crowds anytime you want, it's just simply your call. Schoodic Peninsula is less commercialized than the other tourist spots but there's still a lot to do especially those guests who desire a more relaxed, less crowded atmosphere. There are shops, restaurants, kayak/bike rentals and other businesses to explore including one of the oldest golf courses in the country. You can purchase lobster fresh off the boat that like everything else here won't break your bank. Two weeks during the summer there is an arts festival nestled around a one day lobster festival and year round just about weekly there is a program, theater, concert, dance or some other event. Acadia National Park is the most visited national park in the country and the majority of that onslaught is to Mount Desert Island. Winter Harbor is a smaller seaside community across the bay from Bar Harbor with the only section of ANP on the mainland. Fortunately we don't experience the sheer daily volume of people, traffic or cruise ships that MDI sees. (If we did I'd have to move and that would be a shame.) The entrance road to the Schoodic District is a few hundred yards down Main Street where you'll find miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. At Frazers Point there is a large picnic area with picnic tables, many with fire rings that is open to the public 24/7. Frazers also has a long pier and float that jets out into the harbor for fishing. The views from the seaside loop around the park are gorgeous as you pass the Mark Island Lighthouse at the entrance to the harbor. Schoodic Head the highest point on the peninsula offers panoramic views east, west, north and south. At the southern most tip of the park is Schoodic Point itself with ample parking. The expansive ledges that reach down into the sea with the waves breaking against them are an impressive sight. And finally there is the Bar Harbor-Winter Harbor Ferry making daylight runs every hour back and forth during the tourist season. Combined both legs of the trip are a 14 mile leisurely 1 hour trip. Have a great vacation wherever you end up - wes
