Feel free to explore our property with its bamboo grove, big trees and asian inspired pond garden or enjoy the tea house. Our Silkie chickens provide lots of laughs, and are happy to eat your veggie waste. To explore our local beach, the public trail starts directly across our rural street. A good, slightly rugged trail leads down thru the big trees to a staircase. The stairs are concrete - solid & even, the beach rocky with big logs, then pebbles. Closed shoes are better than thongs on this pebbled beach. Good snorkeling on the Gibsons side of the beach. Ours is a wild beach - no water, washrooms, benches, lighting. No sand here. Also, no homes on the beach yay! There is a very special feel to a 'deserted' beach. This is a 'leash free' beach, so anticipate any dogs you meet will be friendly, not aggressive. If you stay on the beach until dark, you may well need flashlight to find the stairs & get back thru the forest trail - lots of roots to trip on. It is always vegetarian/vegan/dairy free We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs - let us know pls This self-sufficient rental allows guests as much quiet, privacy & security as you might wish for. Just try to see a neighbour! … its very secluded here. Many guests find the alone, together, experience they find here to be the ultimate relaxation. We are generally available to assist guests with problems 24/7. We think of ourselves as ninja hosts - after check in - guests won't see us unless they let us know they need something, or come get us. Where else can you be outside in the winter, warm as toast, cuddled into a heated garden swing drinking in the great visuals along with morning coffee…..oh yeah - your personal hot tub! filled with fresh mountain stream water. Come enjoy! This is a very rural seaside neighbourhood with a very narrow twisty, dark road, no shoulders and no street lights, no transit runs by here (20 min walk to closest bus). We are surrounded by big trees and wildlife, influenced by the ocean's winds and waves. There are no close neighbour to see, & at night, the neighbourhood can get very dark. We are very far removed from city noise & light & busyness. There is a creek that flows along the property & after a rain, it roars thru the little ravine on its way to the ocean. Our natural 'white noise machine'. Our oceanfront is 'high bank' foreshore (steep) so there are stairs to the shore, but it also means there are no houses on the beach, a lovely thing in a busy world - a beach all to yourself. The stairs are cement, evenly spaced, kept cleared and there is a handrail A short trail thru the forest to that beach begins across the street from our rental. We live where Howe Sound (think Squamish/Whistler inlet) meets the Salish Sea (aka Georgia Straight). Often we can see a small standing wave just offshore that forms & stays 20 minutes or so at max tide change. As tidewater flows out of Howe Sound, the ocean is actually moving 2 directions at once & 'piles up' right out there. Sometimes a sea lion hangs out playing in it - when its really quiet, we can hear him slapping his flipper as he body surfs the wave! From our tree-framed view, we get to see our weather coming across Georgia straight, marine traffic going into Howe Sound, summer yaughting regattas with colourful sails, and the cruise ships headed for Alaska. It is NOT a 360 ocean view, but there is still plenty to sea, plus we get to keep the big trees. Lungs of the planet, they moderate our local weather too, cooling us naturally on hot summer days. We have wonderful birdlife here both resident & transient & its all thanks to our trees. Those trees keep our winters green and full of life. Our local waterfront is dominated by a great black granite outcropping rising from the sea (called gospel rock) It is part of an extraordinary spot of both beauty & rarity - a Blue-listed ecosystem. It can be explored at your own risk, and we locals use it ALL the time, it is not (yet!) park, but should be. Locals have been trying to protect & purchase the remaining forest for more than 3 decades. Our public beach, across the street, called Secret beach, links to foreshore access in both directions - when the summer tide is extremely low, you can walk to town! Its great to swim here on an afternoon rising tide - the sun warmed pebbles give their heat to the ocean, so as rising tide water moves up the beach, it gets warmed. When really lucky, you can swim with the grey whale who visits late summer for a few weeks, or maybe hear our otters chattering to each other as they bounce over the beach. Those same cute otters visit our pond and eat our goldfish all too frequently! When you are on the beach, eagles are probably watching you from overhead as they patiently fish from the local tree tops. There is a local nest, and the neighbourhood hopes for eggs each year & we watch in wonder as they raise babies together. Most of the year, our beach is deserted enough for great beach combing. We are protected from the open ocean by Vancouver Island, but interesting things wash up here all the time, riding the Salish Sea currents & tides. Winter storms are very enjoyable on the beaches here. Further S/W along our beach there is a 'clothing optional' area. Usually, not a winter spot lol. Many other great beaches & public parks are close by. Hiking/biking trails begin steps from here. World-class mountain bike trails link up to our mountain logging roads providing extraordinary rides. We have a couple of good cycle shops too. Shopping, food & services -Gibsons harbour & upper Gibsons are both close. Emergency clinic available Mon-Fri 8-5/Sat am @ Gibsons Park Plaza Medical Clinic (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or Sechelt hospital, Sechelt 24/7 (1/2 hr drive) Need emergency help here ? its 924 Gower Point Road tell 911 dispatch - the driver should use drive @ right & go to the upper level, there is enough space for their unit same thing if you are ordering takeout - the driveway on right! We have assigned parking for you plus separate space for your boat/trailer/visitor parking - just let us know your needs, please Driving from ferry - its 20 mins. by car/taxi max use the lower - Marine drive route to Gibsons - its calmer, prettier or…use the upper route through Upper Gibsons service area & get to us via Pratt Rd to Gower Point & turn left. Online maps/GPS can send you on a bit of a tour to get here as Gower Point Rd has a strange 'jog' in the Gibsons bay area that makes no sense & doesn't get you here any better - just confusing! If you find yourself in Gibsons Harbour and confused, just find the paved road closest to the ocean leaving Gibsons, going S/W (toward Roberts Creek) - Keep going southwest, the road you end up on...that's Gower Point Rd - ours Just go slow & don't let us local drivers 'push' you to hurry. Biking from ferry 45 mins (wait til ferry traffic goes by first, then it is an awesome ride but a narrow road with intermittent bike lanes!) Vehicles sometimes show no respect for bikes, but our community is trying to offer bikes safe travel - it is not 100%. Local transit bus accepts bikes - you want the local, not express bus. Bike from the nearest transit stop is only 5/10 mins - Franklin @ Gower Point Road is the stop - alert driver you need your bike/s Pedal S/W (away from Gibsons harbour) along the waterfront to our B&B. You might choose to walk your bike along the oceanside of the street, enjoying the view and not stressing about traffic (its narrow & windy right at the best lookout spots) Sharing the road with vehicles is sometimes a challenge here. Walk? yeah! from nearest transit stop only 20 mins. (along ocean front!) Having no wheels here is doable. Guests have arrived on foot from the bus (20 min walk)in the past. We have a vehicle, and will do ferry pick-up or drop off. locally you can rent bikes, scooters, cars, kayaks, SUPs, boats, float planes we can give you a lift to connect you to your rental if needed A small selection of snax is waiting for you. Its a drive to a convenience store, so this is part of our 'green' program - we encourage fewer trips by car whenever possible. blue box recycling under your kitchen sink- we will dispose appropriately. Refundables are donated to a local not for profit pet sanctuary. There are gift toiletries for guests. Please use whatever you need. First Aid kit provided - drawer in bathroom vanity We appreciate knowing what gets used so we can keep supplied, thanks This is a legally conforming & insured B&B complying with local association standards and zoning regulations. For your safety it includes a portable fire extinguisher, carbon monoxide & smoke detectors in the suite, an escape ladder in the bedroom. Please don't hurt yourself, but know we got you covered if you do. 911 for medical emergencies - this is 924 Gower Point road - first responders should follow the drive to the right of the home The suite has NO land line telephone. Many guests arrive, check out the suite & decide they would be happy to dine in. Some guests order in, some decide to buy the ingredients locally to BBQ, some get take out & bring it back to enjoy here. The privacy & views are world class, plus you both can enjoy your favourite alcoholic beverages with dinner (no driving required). It also is less expensive @ bnb than ordering from a wine list, no? Your guests and visitors are welcome. They need to follow the house rules also. When children visit, and they are outside, an adult MUST be with them (hazardous terrain)
