Sologno (Sclògn in the local dialect) is a fraction of the municipality of Villa Minozzo in the province of Reggio Emilia, located at 750 meters high which has about 300 inhabitants. Its territory is part of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park (pre-park area C) while in the past it was included in the Giant Regional Park, suppressed in 2005. The town winds along the watershed ridge that rises north of Mount Stetta and to the left of the Lucola stream. It had considerable importance during the Middle Ages: in 1022 it depended on the Piolo castle and was subject to the Da Dallo feudal family. They were succeeded in 1373 by the Fogliani family who later left the Estensi in 1427. The country was chosen as a point of inquiry for the drafting of the Linguistic-Ethnographic Atlas of Italy and Southern Switzerland (AIS), drawn up by scholars of the University of Bern in the 1920s. Sologno appears on all AIS cards as point no. 453. The maps can be viewed on the Navigais website, while photos taken during the investigation and depicting glimpses of the country, some of its inhabitants of the time and ancient tools, are visible on the University of Bern website in the AIS database section ( Source Wikipedia).
