The Cabbage Patch is a delightful newly refurbished 2 bedroom cottage set in the peaceful village of Vlahovo, Smolyan. The property is set in a tranquil position away from main roads, along a small side road, with open views across the Rhodope Mountains and local vegetable gardens. Parking is available near to the house. The house is ideally placed to explore the local area with Smolyan town and the ski resort of Pamporovo a 30 min drive and the Greek border only a 45 min drive away. Ideal for couples or small families, the cottage has a traditional feel with a modern twist. The cottage is not directly overlooked by any other properties and there is a private entrance door leading to the hallway and then to the open plan Lounge and dining kitchen. KITCHEN/DINING AREA A modern fitted kitchen with fridge, microwave and hob. There is all the basic equipment that you would expect including silverware, pots & pans, plates and glasses, a kettle and a toaster. There is a dining table for 4 people which has mountain views. The kitchen is open plan and leads through to the lounge area. LOUNGE AREA The lounge area has a traditional log burner for heating and a large L Shaped sofa which can also be used as a double sofa bed. The lounge has a glazed door leading to the private patio area and has mountain views. MASTER BEDROOM The upstairs master bedroom has a king size double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The room has real wooden flooring and is double aspect with mountain views. TWIN ROOM The upstairs twin room has two single beds, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The room has real wooden flooring and a traditional log burner for heating. The room has mountain views. SHOWER ROOM The upstairs wet room has a shower, toilet and hand basin. OUTDOORS Outside there is a private patio, accessed from the lounge, for guests use with uninterrupted mountain views, a BBQ, and outdoor seating. We are firm believers that your holiday time is yours, so we won't bother you during your stay. We are always close by so if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask us anytime. We are English but also have a good command of the Bulgarian language. We have lived in the village for 4 years and are happy to advise on suitable day trips, getting around, local amenities, good places to eat and places of interest to visit locally. The cottage is situated in the traditional Bulgarian Village of Vlahovo in the Rhodope Mountains, conveniently situated off the main '86' road. The village offers a tranquil location, friendly neighbours and a welcoming feel. There are country walks with stunning views just up the road from the Cottage. There are many places of interest locally including : - Momchil Fortress offering stunning views from the summit across the Rhodope Mountains. -There is an Observatory at Rojen which is also worth a visit. - Pamoporovo offers excellent skiing in the winter but also nature Eco trails, hiking and mountain biking in the summer. - Smolyan Town has a planetarium and the third largest church in Bulgaria to visit as well as Spa Hotels, shopping, banks and supermarkets. - There are nature trails at Smolyan lakes and The Canyon of Waterfalls, ideal for summer day trips. - The Greek border is only a 45 min drive from the house offering the opportunity to take a day trip to Greece! - There are various outdoor festivals on offer in the local area throughout the summer months. There is an International Jazz Music Festival in July, a further music festival in June and a Traditional Bulgarian Yogurt Festival in September! There is also a Traditional Bulgarian Folk Festival in July each year offering traditional foods, music and traditional locally made crafts. Vlahovo village is well served with a local shop/café/bar which is open every day as well as a local delivery van which calls three times a week with fresh bread, eggs and other essentials. There is a regular bus service from the village to the local small town of Ustavo (10 mins) where there are food shops, cafes, banks and friendly family run restaurants. The same bus also goes further into the main town of Smolyan (25 mins) with the many amenities of the Town. Buses are reliable and very inexpensive, Smolyan Town is 1 leva (45p) each way. A taxi can also be taken easily from Smolyan Town to Pamporovo Ski resort for around 20 Lev (£8 approx). Cars can be hired from Plovdiv or Sofia Airport, Hertz is recommended. Travelling time to the house from Sofia Airport is approx 4 1/2 hours and from Plovdiv Airport approx 2 1/2 hours.
