This house was formerly that of the last ferryman of the village, who offered to the inhabitants to join the other side on his boat. Bernard himself lived there and could not bring himself to sell it. The idea of making it into a gîte therefore seemed obvious to him, and as an opportunity to bring the history of the village to life. He then baptized the gîte "la Maison du Passeur". The very bright interior opens onto the Seine and the Victor Hugo Museum, right next door. The paintings on the walls of the kitchen are the work of his companion, who was inspired by ex-voto from the Church of Bébec, a neighboring town: they are prayers of thanks drawn or engraved in stone, testimonies local miracles and a true fresco from the past. The soft and neat decoration as well as the stocked library will give you the feeling of staying with friends. A good bottle of cider will be offered to you, you will be able to savor it in the garden, while watching the barges as tall as buildings slide down the Seine.
