Up to 2 dogs welcome free of charge. We also offer the free use of a fishing licence for 2 at a dam only a 5 minute walk away. If you're looking for a home from home this cottage is for you. With an amazing view from the lounge, The Old Wash Kitchen nestles in the heart of the village of Hinchliffe Mill. The cottage is the lower half of a pair of cosy, quirky weavers cottages with original beams, exposed stonework and vaulted ceilings. It's surrounded by rolling green hills, made famous in the comedy series The Last of the Summer Wine, open countryside, overlooking the river Holme, which can be heard babbling by, and the mill pond - a haven to birds and wildlife. You're spoiled for choice for walks and cycle rides! Located at the foot of Holme Moss the Cote De Holme Moss Grand Depart of the Tour De france 2014 is only metres from your door. There's a fishing spot only a 2 minute walk away and with numerous reservoirs, woodland, moorland and riverside walks, this cottage has all you need for a Yorkshire countryside break! Not only that, all your needs are at your doorstep with 2 pubs, one with it's own restaurant, a village store, tea room and Holmfirth vineyard which offers vineyard tours and serves breakfast, english wines, afternoon teas and an la carte menu, all within a 5 minute walk and as it's such perfect dog walking country, and the centre of the market town of Holmfirth with an array of amenities, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and the live music venue The Picturedrome offer a surprisingly good night out is a short, flat, 1 mile walk away or 3 minute drive away. Most businesses welcome your furry friends too. There is a small, secluded, stone flagged area to the front with seating for 2 where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine (or 3!) in the evening and it's enclosed by a tall metal gate so no need to worry about your (medium/large) furry friend escaping! There's a selection of DVD's and board games if you prefer a quiet night in and some xbox games to keep the kids happy. There is also a picnic basket, picnic blanket and ice packs available for you to dine out 'al fresco' in the beautiful surrounding countryside. The centre of Holmfirth is a short, flat 1 mile stroll away or, if you prefer, the bus stop to Holmfirth, outlying villages and Huddersfield to connect with train services, is less than 100 yds away. The local minibus stops on the lane at the rear of the cottage to take you to Holmfirth centre and local villages, and local taxis are competitively priced and readily available. The close proximity to Holmfirth town centre and it's transport links makes this an ideal base for guests wishing to visit events at the Picturedrome, The Holmfirth Festival of Folk, Holmfirth Food Festival, The Art Festival, Film Festival and other local events. A fireguard and high chair is available by arrangement. Please mention if you'd like to make use of the fishing permit. ***PLEASE BE AWARE*** *The bathroom is situated within a vaulted cellar and although inside the room is full height the doorway is less than 5ft in height and may not be suitable for those less mobile. *This cottage is, what is known locally as, an 'underdwelling', therefore, everyday noise from the cottage above is possible. *Although we do not offer private parking there is easy on street parking available. * We allow up to 2 dogs to accompany you free of charge (3 subject to approval). We do have some basic dog rules which we need you to adhere to which allows us to keep offering this. Please mention on booking if you intend to bring your dogs and how many will be accompanying you. *We don't charge a cleaning fee as we do expect guests to leave the cottage as near to how they found it as possible, and thankfully, most do. We do not expect to 'clean up' after guests following their stay we simply prepare the cottage for the incoming guests stay. If an extended cleaning time is required due to the cottage being left in an unsuitable state the costs incurred will be deducted from the damage/housekeeping deposit. If you do not wish to tidy up after yourself and are likely to leave the cottage a mess then please book more suitable accommodation to avoid disappointment.
