The Bird House, Dedham

The Bird House is a newly refurbished annex, with a spacious double-bedroom, sparkling modern shower room, fully fitted kitchen, comfortable living area and private patio. The Bird House is a holiday home set in the grounds of Woodburn Cottage, which was originally built in the 1700's. It is located on Lamb Corner on the edge of Dedham village, providing an excellent base for exploring the stunning Dedham Vale, Colchester and beyond. The Bird House is less than 5 minutes drive - or 25 minutes walk along beautiful country footpaths - to the centre of Dedham, with it's wonderful pubs, quaint shops and boathouse. The mill pond and river provide great locations for picnics, wild swimming, and walks or boat trips to Flatford Mill. The Munnings museum and cafe is also within walking distance of the property. The Bird House has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area with bi-folding doors offering views across the private patio area, beautiful garden and countryside beyond. The kitchen is equipped with everything that you may need during your stay - fridge (with freezer compartment), oven/hob, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and toaster. Complimentary tea, coffee and milk are also included. The dining area contains an extendable dining table, with seating for 4 people. The living room benefits from a large comfortable sofa, freeview TV, Blueray player and selection of DVDs. In addition, the sofa converts into a small double bed. Note that the living room is light and airy, with sheer muslin drapes - light sleepers may be woken by the sunrise! High speed Wifi is available at the property. A travel cot and highchair are available should they be required. Note: Breakfast is also available to guests staying at The Bird House at weekends for an additional charge. Let us know in advance of your stay if it takes your fancy! We also welcome well-behaved dogs. Your hosts, Jimmy and Nicky, live next door. They will meet you on arrival and are always available to assist with any queries. The Bird House is situated in a peaceful neighbourhood, surrounded by beautiful country walks across the Dedham Vale. Manningtree and Colchester train stations are each just a few miles away and have taxi ranks. There are also bus services with stops nearby. There is plenty of free parking at the cottage if you arrive by car. This is a particularly good area for cycling and walking. Harwich ferry terminal is within 30 minutes drive, making The Bird House an excellent place to stop en-route to the continent.
