We produce our own extra virgin olive oil and in addition, we enjoy organic fruits such as lemons, mandarins, oranges, plums, grapes, pomegranate, figs, pears, apples, apricots, black/white berries, cherries, etc. Please read about the Asklipia Villa Olive Picking Experience at the end of the description “Getting Around” section and view the relevant photos in the photo gallery. In the middle of the land is the Villa, swimming pool + Jacuzzi, an outdoor canopy, a rustic built large barbecue and car park. On one end of the land, close to the main gates, there is a greenhouse where we grow our own seasonal vegetables, and on the other end of the land there is a small chickens & geese's farm. The Villa is framed by a beautiful wide marble stone pathway that extends from the swimming pool to the main gate. There are also 2 trained-to-guard shepherd dogs, which can be removed upon request. There is an internal solid door that locks on the middle floor, right at the start of the interior marble staircase, that can effectively separate out the lower floor. Check-in 12:00 - 19:00, and check-out by 14:00 The Asklipia Villa offers stunning views of the Corinthian Strait and it is surrounded by pine trees, ancient ruins such as the Byzantine Ioustinianian Wall, and the Museum of Isthmia is nearby. 24HR VIBRANT & LIVELY ENVIRONMENT Close by, the popular Loutraki Casino Resort (which is ~10mins drive from the Villa) are several bars and clubs, as well as taverns, cafes and restaurants. The Loutraki area is a popular destination for the youth as well as the elderly. Loutraki's nightlife attracts young people with several clubs and cabarets, as well as the elderly with its many meat and fish taverns offering traditional Greek cuisine along the beach. The Corinthian Strait is a ~3mins drive from the estate, with many taverns and cafes to enjoy the sea view, whilst watching the bridge opening for luxury yachts and ships of all sizes passing slowly through the narrow channel. On the other side of the sea-lake, there is an organised beach with tavern and café/bars which are very popular for the families during the day and especially for the youth throughout the evenings. CULTURAL SIGHTSEEING The very picturesque and traditional natural-healing Baths of Beautiful Helen (~4km away), where visitors can enjoy the natural spa treatments. Monastery of Osios Potapios (~8km away), on the mountain of Perachora area accepts visitors and tourists. City of ancient Corinth (~20km away), with several ancient ruins and a museum. WINE TASTING City of Nemea (~35km away), famous from the Greek Mythology and the story of Hercules, nowadays also popular for its wine. Nemea has 3 main regions of vineyards: In the Valley of Nemea (the lowest altitude zone) they produce light reds and dessert wines. In the mid-altitude zone, they produce the finest age-worthy red wines and at the highest altitude zone, they produce fresh red and aromatic rose. City of Epidaurus (~60km away), with several museums, the famous ancient theatre of Epidaurus and the Asklipia Temple. CLOSE TO ATHENS The Villa is situated approximately 45mins drive from Athens, and it is conveniently 5mins off the motorway (simply driving straight through the motorway of Attiki Odos and Olympia Odos). The Athens International Airport of E.Venizelos is ~1hr drive or ~1h15mins by train (Express Proastiakos). *** ASKLIPIA VILLA OLIVE PICKING EXPERIENCE *** The Asklipia Villa is indeed a place of serenity all year round surrounded by natural beauty of pine trees forest and olive trees. Visitors can tailor their experience to just olive picking or include something extra in order to get themselves and their families more familiar with light farming activities. Please feel free to view some relevant pictures in the photo gallery! *In order to experience the olive picking in the Asklipia Villa you simply need to contact the host and book a week within the olive picking season. At Asklipia Villa we grow our own organic seasonal vegetables, fruits and produce one of the finest quality olive oil. Our olives are harvested with such care, free of chemicals, picked at the right time and processed within 24hrs, which consistently has provided an extra virgin olive oil of around and even less than 0.5% acidity level! We have approximately 240 olive trees, mainly of two kinds of olives: the Manaki and the Koroneiki. The Manaki olives are larger than the Koroneiki but are also relatively small, smooth, darker brown in colour and their picking season is around October/early November of every year. The Koroneiki olives have a mild fruity aroma and they are small, smooth and green in colour. Their picking season is mid-December to mid-January. Our olives are indeed excellent for producing olive oil as you need between 2.5 - 4.5Kg of olives (depending on the year's harvest) to produce 1Kg of olive oil. Typically, you would need 8-10Kg of olives in order to produce 1Kg of olive oil. After picking the olives, you will experience the production of olive oil in the local small factory and have a taste straight from the tab of the warm olive oil you just helped produce. The olive picking experience in the Asklipia Villa can be combined with other daily light farming activities such as: - Collecting the ripe vegetables in a basket, cleaning the soil and planting with your own hand tools at the greenhouse. - Picking all sorts of different organic fruits from around the land such as lemons, mandarins, oranges, plums, grapes, pomegranate, figs, pears, apples, apricots, black/white berries, cherries, etc. - Collecting chicken and goose eggs from the little hen house. Feeding the chickens and gooses, cleaning of the hen house and changing the geese's little pool water. We have had families visiting us and getting involved in these sort of light farming activities. The experience of collecting and eating your own organic vegetables and salad is indeed unique. The children were always very excited with the hen house activities and in particular, they were very impressed by collecting the eggs. Both children and adults have loved watching the geese slowly going back to their little pool once the water had been changed and then starting to dive and clean themselves with their unique natural moves. The Villa is an ideal family vacation destination and it is intended to be rented mainly for such purposes. As the Villa can be partly rented out at times, we advise prospective guests to send a booking enquiry even if the calendar seems to be blocked. There is a separate bungalow which is not for renting as it is the part-time residence of the host.
