Traditional house in Badolato, Calabria
"Casa Alina" is a traditional and comfortable house in typical Calabrian village, with big terrace with breathtaking view on the sea Badolato village is remote and misterious, sunk in the deep southern land of Calabria, which is one of the most traditional regions of Italy still today, so the atmosphere is really unique and don't expect anything fancy or "pretty": the place is truly beautiful! The place and the people there are truly "real". The house is located in the centre of the village, in one of the many quiet alleys. No cars drive through the village. cars are parked in the main square, and then its only 2 min walk to the house. in Badolato there are food shops, bars (with wi-fi), small restaurants, chemist, newsagent. the village is 5 km from the coast, where the beach is bright sandy, and empty most time of the year, summer included. along the main road (SS106) running along the coastline there is also the modern part of Badolato, where most shops are, bank, post office, service station, supermarket, restaurants. To get there you need to fly to LAMEZIA TERME (also easyjet and ryanair) and then rent a car and drive 80 km to badolato. it takes just over over hour from the airport. You can easily reach the mountains at the back of Badolato (1 hour drive) for change of setting and atmosphere with unexpected green and cool woods where you can have pic nics or go for walks... Turism there is very local, no crowds, no mess, no queues...prices are very good for everything and food quality great. Local people are very hospitable and nice. You can buy local oil and food from our neighbours! Our house is big, it sleeps 5 to 7 people, its comfortable but basic. it is on 3 floors: on the ground floor there is kitchen and bathroom; kitchen leads onto the big terrace (25 sqm), where there is shade and a large dining table. bedrooms are on top and on the level below the terrace. there are 2 double bedrooms, one room with 1 single bed + 2 extra single beds which can be placed where needed. there is a washing machine. it is cool and quiet. perfect for group of friends or a family (like us). I have been spending my summers in Badolato since the last 20 years! you would need a car to get around, drive to the coast and explore places in the mountains
