Hallyard House, Peak Park barn conversion
Hallyard (hall yard) House is in the quiet rural village of Over Haddon, near Bakewell, in the middle of the Peak District. Local tea rooms greet you on your walk down to the Lathkil Dale, the Peak Park's most pristine walking, swimming and fishing spot, while The Lathkil Pub boasts great food and spectacular views. The house is ideal for families or business travellers and is a perfect romantic hideaway. Gorgeous walks and stunning scenery make this a beautiful spot all year round. Hallyard House is a modern cottage build, built from the remains of a barn which once stood on this site, on the hall yard of the now demolished Haddon House. It's well appointed and stunningly decorated... modern boutique luxury in the heart of rural England. We've recently added a wood burning stove for those cosy cold nights in, and the new SKY/Netflix package. The entire home is available for guests, with each room equipped for a restful retreat. Outside is a small patio with 'God's Own' views, walks aplenty, rolling views, a play park easily accessible for the kids should you need... We live in the village and are mostly available if help is needed. In Over Haddon, the Lathkil Pub is the closest watering hole and offers a range of hot meals and local ales. It is an award-winning pub with phenomenal views. Walking through Over Haddon, you're surrounded by historic farm houses, notably the home of ex MI6 chief Sir Maurice Oldfield who is now buried in the beautiful churchyard of St Anne’s Church. Down in the dale, once you arrive at the river, you will find that turning left, right or straight on over the footbridge are all easily navigate. In Bakewell, the renowned Rutland Hotel stands on the main roundabout in the centre of town. Apparently, this is where Jane Austin penned Pride and Prejudice… (fun fact: Mr Darcey’s Pemberley was based on Chatsworth House, two miles from Bakewell..) Bakewell is a 30 min (2 mile) walk away, but it is probably best to have at least one car as there is no convenience store in Over Haddon There isn't provision for cots, but plenty of room to bring your own. Some children's plastic utensils and cutlery are provided. The house is shoe free, and smoke-free If you wish to bring a furry friend, please ask. We may be happy to accommodate one small dog who is used to sleeping downstairs. A nominal extra cleaning charge may be levied for this. Please try to resist blueback and sellotape on balloons and banner, and glitter etc etc. I'm sure celebrations will be as special without, but they are a nightmare to clean up. Lets go eco and save my walls.
