The Sweet Retreat is perfectly located in the heart of the Sierra Mountains. This modern mountain house resides in the small town of Sugar Pine, Ca ( Between Twain Harte & Me Wuk Village ). 8 miles to Black Oak Casino and 16 miles from Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. Escape from the daily grind and retreat to this peaceful place. Modern mountain house with wrap-around deck and outdoor fire pit area for entertaining. At night enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the trees lit up by outdoor lighting. Entering the home, you will be greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows to showcase the natural beauty that surrounds you. Hardwood floors, tile, and new carpet throughout. Updated kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel refrigerator, microwave, and gas oven. Fully stocked kitchen with everything you will need to prepare meals. Keurig with a supply of coffee pods. Three flat-screen TV with access to Roku and Netflix. Large movie library. 1 bedroom, loft that acts as a bedroom, and one bathroom with a Shower. The shower has an oversized rainfall showerhead. A spiral staircase will lead you up to the loft/ 2nd bedroom area. Central heating throughout the house and wood-burning stove. There are 5 beds total. The main level bedroom has a bunk bed that features a full bed and 2 twin beds. The loft offers a Queen bed and a futon that becomes a full bed. All beds have memory foam mattresses to ensure a restful night's sleep. The futon has a featherbed for extra comfort. All beds have bamboo sheets, memory foam pillows, and down comforters. The cabin is approximately 1000 Square feet of living space. In the summer months, Memorial Day through Labor Day, guests can enjoy the Sugar Pine private lake. This charming lake has a small sandy white beach and two floating docks to play on. The lake is a short five-minute walk from the cabin. An amazing way to spend your days under the trees! Complete access to the cabin and outdoor entertaining areas. Owners closet located upstairs is locked for safekeeping. In the summer months guests can enjoy free private access to a small lake within walking distance. This lake is open May through September. The charming town of Twain Harte is 3 minutes away from the cabin. Enjoy free Friday night movies under the starts at Eproson Park in Twain Harte and free concerts in the park at Eproson Park on Saturday's in the summer. Short drive up the hill is Pinecrest Lake. Activities include: hiking around the beautiful lake (3.5 ml), fishing, rent paddle boats or kayaks, relax on the beach, discover Cleo's Bath, horseback riding or watching a movie under the stars at the Pinecrest Amphitheater. In the winter months, enjoy ski weekends at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, sledding right outside the property, Leland Snow Park for intense sledding adventures, building a snow man, making snow angles and snow ball fights! The best part, bundling up with a cozy blanket next to the wood burning stove watching the snow fall through the large windows. Year round, guests can explore the following points of interest: Charming town of Twain Harte which is a three minute drive from the Sweet Retreat. Twain Harte has restaurants and bars for nightlife, a 9 hole golf course, miniature golf for the kiddos and a public swimming pool. Black Oak Casino is 15 minutes down the hill. Enjoy gambling, live music, blacklight bowling in their basement bowling alley or a five star steakhouse at Seven Sisters restaurant. Columbia Historical State park is located 30 minutes away. Columbia Is a living gold rush town featuring the largest single collection of historic buildings and landmarks. Take a ride on the stage coach! The town of Murphy's is a mecca for wine enthusiasts! Just 45 minutes from the cabin you can enjoy a day wine tasting at over 10 tasting rooms on Main St. Tour Ironstone Vineyard or catch a concert at their amphitheater. Jamestown is a small mining town 20 minutes from the cabin. Jamestown boosts vintage shops, wine tasting, gold mining. Catch a ride on the historical railroad at Railtown State Park. Yosemite National Park is approx 70 miles from the cabin. A beautiful drive through the Sierras. We do not provide the following items: firewood Laundry detergent Propane for the BBQ Ice melt ( Winter ) Beach towels We have a portable ac unit that is provided from June- September for our guests. Week of Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday there is a 3-night minimum. New Years', Memorial Day, and Labor Day there is a 3-night minimum stay on the weekend. Holiday pricing per night starts at 239.00 Lake access to guests will be from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. To utilize the private lake, we require a signed document agreeing to the rules of the lake by the Association. We can either email or mail it to you whichever is most convenient. The signed document needs to be returned to us before your reservation. If we receive a complaint or are notified of inappropriate misuse of the lake, your security deposit will be forfeited. Our property has a flight of stairs that lead to the main level of the cabin. Additionally, there is a spiral staircase that leads up to the loft / second bedroom. Our cabin does not have ramps or wheelchair access. We do provide a gas barbecue located on the back deck. Keep in mind that we do not maintain the propane. We recommend you bring up an extra propane tank for backup just in case it runs out. Or you can have the existing tank filled at a local market a few blocks away from the cabin. We do have a landline available at the cabin to utilize for local calls. We have provided two shovels for the property, one by the front door and one by the back door. You will be required to shovel the entrance during a snowstorm. Parking We have a flat gravel driveway that you could park three average-sized vehicles in the summer and I large SUV or two small vehicles in the winter. In the winter months if it is snowing you will be required to park on the driveway and not the road. This is to ensure that the snowplow vehicles can plow. This might require shoveling snow on the driveway to access a parking spot. We want to make sure you don't receive a hefty ticket from the city. In the winter months we recommend bringing up dry firewood and fire starter sticks to help start a fire in the woodstove. If you are not familiar with making a fire we recommend that you bring up extra kindling. That could be fire starter sticks, old magazines, or newspapers. We do have a woodpile that you could utilize at your discretion, however, keep in mind that it is wet from the snow.
