Spacious house & stunning view of Le Mt-St-Michel

Welcome to our family holiday home in the delightful rural village of Le Mesnil Ozenne in Normandy. We built this house as a family-friendly destination just a short drive from the ferry ports, with lots to do for all ages, fantastic food & an absolutely breathtaking view across the rolling countryside looking down to Le Mont St Michel. There is something for everyone; absorbing the scenery, the beach at Carolles, fascinating WW2 history or simply enjoying the cafes & restaurants in Avranches The house itself is a modern 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom (2 of these ensuite) with an enormous open-plan layout kitchen / dining / sitting room. Those with children will be pleased to know that the house also has a separate utility room with washing machine and both inside and outside drying facility for clothes. Two bedrooms are double and the third bedroom has 3 single beds. The kitchen is substantial and fully fitted with all the usual appliances including a dish washer and microwave, whilst the sitting room has a log burning stove, a TV, freesat (UK channels), DVD, iPod connectivity and WiFi. The house is well laid out with electric central heating throughout and kitted-out for an easy holiday, including equipment such as a travel-cot and high chair. In the garage we also have a charcoal BBQ, lots of beach equipment as well as golf clubs, three bicycles (plus a child bike seat), a bike rack to fit most cars and garden games. Le Mesnil Ozenne (pronounced “le menny-ozz-enne”) is a small rural village surrounded by fields and woodland set on the top of a hill. The village consists of approximately 40 houses, the Mairie and a church. We are situated in a lane that leads to a footpath into the woods with just three houses beyond us so passing cars are few and far between. The house is set on a 1⁄4 acre plot set mostly to lawn with high, mature hedges on the perimeter of the garden but an unobstructed view across the fields facing down to the sea in the distance. There is fantastic walking and cycling either from the house or a short drive away as well as several pay-and-play golf courses in the area. The nearest town is Avranches which is 7km away with supermarkets / indoor swimming pool / Saturday market / numerous cafes & restaurants / hospital etc. This part of Normandy is well known for its WW2 history, beautiful beach in Carolles as well the UNESCO world heritage site Le Mont St Michel. ‘Fruit de mer’ consisting of various crustaceans is the local delicacy along with rich smelly cheeses, cream, cider, Calvados, salt marsh lamb and mussels from the Bay. Due to the rural location you do need a car so you can get to the house and get around.
