Fairfield Loft, Ashover - Village hideaway for two
Fairfield Loft is in the heart of the lovely village of Ashover with the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and Peak District National Park right on the doorstep. Newly renovated with comfort and quality in mind, you’ll find everything you need for short breaks or longer stays. There's lots to see and do in the area but if you simply want to relax then park the car, spend the days exploring the many beautiful local walks and maybe wind down with a drink or two in one of the friendly local pubs. The accommodation is an open-plan quirky mix of old and new with a well equipped little kitchen, a fridge/ice box, combination oven/microwave and a two ring ceramic hob. We provide tea, coffee, milk and a few other essentials to get you started. When it comes to relaxing, there's a comfy sofa, a 43" 4K Ultra HD TV and complimentary Wi-Fi. If you want to switch off from the outside world then there's a selection of games and books you can curl up with instead. The king size bed has hypo-allergenic pillows, a luxurious deep topper and quality linens for a relaxing night’s sleep. The bathroom is light and bright and has an easy access roomy quadrant shower. Tucked away on the first floor behind the village Post Office and Stamp Coffee Shop, the accommodation is accessed via a shared courtyard with outdoor seating where wrought iron spiral stairs lead up to the property. The entrance is shared with two other properties but your accommodation is self-contained and private. There is free on-street parking and you won’t have far to go for really good coffee and cake at Stamp. You can also get breakfast Monday - Saturday at the coffee shop (eat in or take away) and Ashover Farm Shop is a few yards away stocking great quality produce. We live in the village and own/work in the local Post Office and Stamp Coffee Shop below Fairfield Loft, so we are close by if you need any help during your stay. Our self check-in system is simple and we will ensure you have all the information you need before you arrive so that your stay is seamless and hassle free. Step outside and enjoy mile after mile of stunning local walks and wander alongside the river Amber which runs through Demonsdale below the village. Climb up to the Fabrick Rock above the village and you'll be rewarded with magnificent far-reaching views, it’s a great place to enjoy a picnic in the warmer weather. The village boasts three friendly pubs, just what you need when you’ve worked up a thirst on those country walks. The accommodation is situated above our village Post Office and Stamp Coffee Shop so you won't have far to go for breakfast, lunch or great coffee and cake. Please bear in mind you might hear some of the hustle and bustle from the shop below during the day time. Unrestricted on-street parking is available and there is also a free daytime parking at the village hall just around the corner from the property. It can be busy at school drop off/pick up times but it soon clears. There is an outdoor gym and tennis courts at the village hall and depending on the time of year, you might catch either a game of football or cricket with the locals and enjoy the hospitality of the cricket pavilion. As the village hall hosts lots of events including weddings throughout the year, we offer a great place to stop over and the local beautician is just down the road. The village has a traditional farm shop/butcher selling just about everything you can think of and there's also the Tuck Shop with goodies and local arts and crafts. If you need a supermarket then you can find M&S Simply Food and Sainsburys in nearby Matlock where there's also a filling station. Ashover is a lively village with events throughout the year including May Day celebrations, a Classic Car and Bike Show in July, Ashover Show, a wonderful traditional agricultural and horticultural show in August which attracts over 16,000 visitors and the Vintage Festival of Light in October to name a few. The area is so packed with things to see and do you’ll be spoilt for choice with Chatsworth House, Haddon and Hardwick Halls, the towns of Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield all being just a short drive away. The list of activities nearby is endless: fishing at Press Manor, bird watching at Ogston Reservoir, Peak Rail heritage railway at Matlock, scenic cable cars at Matlock Bath, cycling and walking on the High Peak Trail and horse riding too. The beautiful Peak District is in easy reach with hills to climb and lots of pretty villages to explore. We are in a rural area situated between the market towns of Matlock (5 miles away) and Chesterfield (7 miles away) with easy access from junctions 28 and 29 of the M1. A local bus service runs regularly with more frequent services running through the nearby village of Kelstedge (on the A632) which is just over a mile away. The nearest train stations are in Matlock and Chesterfield. There are many miles of fabulous walking paths which can be accessed from the village and the area is popular with walkers and cyclists alike.
