Zomba Forest Lodge is an intimate forest retreat - it sits in 20 acres of mixed woodland and it is an ideal place to hide away, to take it slow and to sit back … or you can step it up and go walking on one of the many trails around the lodge or on the Plateau. We have no electricity so it is your chance to really switch off and relax by the beautifully atmospheric candle light. And to top it all off, all our prices include breakfast, lunch and a sumptuous 3 course dinner :) However, Zomba Forest Lodge isn’t all about relaxing and hiking, it is also about enjoying great food. Up here, we take the matter very seriously and we make sure that our guests enjoy only the best. We have always said that our lodge is not a 5 star lodge - what we offer is much more simple (and our prices reflect that). We are a small and intimate lodge, a forest retreat. It is far from luxury accommodation and we don’t pretend it is. Our guests are treated like friends in our home and we sit and chat to them, offer them whatever advice or help they need and generally ensure that they have a great time. Overall, we like to think that what they experience is 5 stars, but it is not quantifiable, not tangible - it is simply special Guests will have access to the lounge and bedrooms but most people want to spend time outside in the gardens exploring and relaxing :) Tom and Petal love meeting new people and one of the main reasons we love our job is that we get to interact with our guests so of course, we are on hand for any questions or help that may be needed. Zomba Forest Lodge is situated 30min drive from town, but also from the top of the Plateau. It sits in 20 acres of mixed woodland so it feels secluded but without being in the middle of nowhere. It is lovey and quiet with only birdsong and monkeys and the occasional dog bark. Occasionally from the villages below us, the sound of drums or some modern music drifts up to us but it makes for a relaxing background. The best way to reach us is by private car, either your own or a taxi. We have detailed driving directions on our website which we recommend printing out. Although we have a 3.5km dirt road to get here, 4x4 is not necessary but rather patience is: the roads twists and turns around the mountain to it feels a lot longer than it actually is :) Our prices vary depending on the length of your stay so the longer you stay the cheaper it is. Sadly, we are unable to reflect this on the website. Below is what we charge for Malawi residents: - for 1 night, it is $95 per person sharing per night, - for 2 nights, it is $85 per person sharing per night, - for 3 nights, it is $75 per person sharing per night, We also have cheaper prices for children and green season specials so please do enquire :)
