Crumbling 18th century elegance!
George and James would love to welcome you to The Custom House, their beautiful home on the Norfolk coast. The house is grade II listed, and much of it was built in the early 1700s. It is a much loved, rambling, and slightly crumbling family home right in the middle of Cley, just behind the windmill, with lots of stunning and elegant period detail. It is unforgettable, and full of character. We love living here, and love sharing the house with others! Perfect for 3 couples! Set over 5 levels, this is a fascinating rabbit warren of a house! There are beautifully panelled 18th century rooms, stunning wooden floors, views straight out to the windmill which is so close it seems as though in the garden, and from the top floor, views far out to the sea and to Blakeney point. True to name, it did indeed once serve as the custom house for the port of Cley, when this was still navigable. There is an enclosed garden with outdoor furniture too, so there are areas everywhere, both inside and out, to sit and while away the time. We may be on site in the converted boathouse at the back of the garden, or we may be at home in Suffolk. Either way, we will not impose ourselves on you, but we are both available throughout your stay by phone or in person to ensure your visit is everything it should be!
