Contemporary living in a gorgeous cosy cottage in Carlton in Cleveland, a beautiful quiet village in the North Yorks Moors National Park Maybe the most comfortable bed you have slept on, Yorkshire Harrison Spink! There is a great pub in the village, The Blackwell Ox serving genuine Thai food and excellent real ales This space is the ground floor with a bedroom, kitchen/diner and shower room/toilet. Lovely and warm with very effective and controllable central heating. The super comfortable double bed (that most guest remark on as giving a great night's sleep can be changed into 2 x Singles, if requested in advance. The cottage was originally built in about 1750 but is now fully fitted to a contemporary, modern and high standard. All of the ground floor is available to guests. The upstairs bedroom can be added as an option for an additional £25 per night (for one or two people). There is a cosy double bed and it's beautiful up there! We live across from the cottage and are normally easily available if needed but we will leave you in peace, if this is what you prefer. This is a beautiful part of North Yorkshire, in the North York Moors National Park and also in a Conservation area. Nearby is The Blackwell Ox pub that is a great local pub serving great genuine Thai food (and British favourites) and real ales. The staff are very friendly and we are fortunate to have such a good local pub! At the top of Carlton Bank is the Lord Stones Country Park where they serve good steaks from their own cattle in The Belted Bull. There are other really good pubs serving good food locally including the superb Golden Lion at Osmotherley that is about 10 minutes drive from here. This is our favourite restaurant! There are very good shops in the nearby market town of Stokesley that is less than 4 miles away with butchers, bakers, a bank, Post Office, Co-op Convenience store and a larger Co-op on the outskirts, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and many small independent shops and even a Mirco pub the Green man! A fantastic location for walking, cycling or just as a base to tour the Moors or pop down to the coast - Whitby is only a 40 minute drive, Saltburn is just a 25 minute drive away. York is about an hour away as well as Leeds and Newcastle. Bus transport is limited however there are local Taxi firms that give a good service, please ask for details. There are many amazing walks and we can give you guidance on these - especially the ones where you can walk to a good pub!
