The Barn is a beautiful modernised dwelling within an old Medieval farmstead centred in the quiet village of High Hurstwood, just 100 yards walk from the renowed pub/restaurant, the Hurstwood. Enjoy the tranquility yet be close to the towns of Lewes, Brighton, Eastbourne, the South Downs and Tunbridge wells, just a short drive away. The Barn has a vaulted living, dining, and bedroom area with a king sized bed. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, shower room and separate twin bedroom. We have superfast fibre broadband into the house with BT booster dishes into the barn. Situated in 5 acres of garden, fields and orchard this peaceful retreat is a sanctuary for wildlife including deer and many varieties of birds. Less than 7 miles from the Ashdown Forest and 2 minutes walk from the Vanguard Way, there are many footpaths and bridleways that lead onto the Ashdown forest or South Downs way. After a day of exploring come back for a pint, meal or take away from the Hurstwood pub or cook in the well equipped kitchen or BBQ and relax and unwind in the comfort and tranquility of your own private space. We live in the medieval farmhouse which is separate from the barn and spend much of our time gardening and maintaining the grounds, so are around for questions or advice, but will maintain your privacy. High Hurstwood is a vibrant village community surrounded by woodland and countryside. It is centred on the village hall and local Hurstwood pub, which provides gastro quality food in the restaurant and garden, or take away. After a vigorous days walking on the Ashdown forest, come home and relax in your own private sanctuary or sample the local cuisine, beers, cheese and cider in the friendly local pub. There are plenty of footpaths and bridleways in the area. The Vanguard Way runs through the village onto the Ashdown forest and links up with the South Downs Way. A car is recommended to make sightseeing more pleasurable to explore the spa town of Tunbridge Wells, or coastal towns of Brighton, Eastbourne and Sussex villages. the opera venue Glyndbourne is just 20 mins drive away. If you like gardens we are a short drive from the National Trust's Sheffield Park and Great Dixtor, Pashley Manor and Groombridge Place. We are also a 30 mins drive from the famous historic palaces of Penshurst Place, Hever Castle and Scotney Castle. Buxted or Crowborough stations are a 10 mins drive, Gatwick airport is 40 mins drive away. There is limited mobile phone coverage although it is possible to make calls using WIFI calling.
