The space forms the entire top floor of a barn. It has its own entrance up some steps to the rear of the property and is very private, with views out over the fields and the tree canopy through skylight windows. It feels spacious, light and airy with vaulted ceilings & exposed beams. Fast WIFI throughout. The entire space is open plan with a separate shower room. It's a peaceful, rural location, with a spacious garden that guests are welcome to share with the hosts. There is an open plan kitchen and breakfast bar area with 4 stools. The kitchen is well kitted out with crockery, cutlery, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. There's a cosy study area with desk overlooking the garden, and a seating area for 4 with coffee table and (Freeview) TV. Games, puzzles and books are provided for children for those rainy days. We even have a very extensive wooden train set for them to enjoy! The bedroom area has a comfortable kingsize bed with memory foam mattress & crisp Egyptian cotton bed linen. 2 extra full size single z-beds with thick comfortable mattresses are available. We can provide a baby cot and highchair if needed. You are welcome to use our garden, trampoline and tree swings. Garden seating exclusively for guests is provided. BBQ, washer/dryer available on request We live next door and are usually available if there are any issues and happy to be of help when needed. It's always lovely to meet our guests. We are situated in a quiet and peaceful spot in the hamlet of Fonthill surrounded by trees, fields and birdsong. Local walks, cycling and pubs are highlights. The nearby 'Griffin Inn' Pub in pretty Fletching village is a personal favourite. The lovely 'Sussex Ouse Valley Way' passes by the bottom of the garden . We are also very close to Ashdown Forest (home of Winnie-the-Pooh), Sheffield Park (National Trust), Wakehurst Place (Kew gardens) and the Bluebell Railway. The village of Newick is just a ten minute walk away (1/2 mile) and has 3 pubs, a cafe, bakery, butchers, 2 little shops for basics and an Indian takeaway. For history lovers, the ancient town of Lewes, with its castle, bustling markets, antiques and quirky independent shops is nearby. Further afield, the bigger towns of Brighton and Tunbridge Wells can be reached by car in 30 mins. Gatwick Airport is 40 mins drive away. Closest train stations are Haywards Heath, Uckfield or Lewes (all 15 mins by car/taxi or 30 mins by bus (once an hour)) - all 3 stations serve London. Fastest trains to London take only 40 mins from Haywards Heath. We are situated in the middle of the beautiful Sussex countryside, a paradise for walkers and cyclists. The walks around Ashdown Forest (home of Winnie-the-Pooh), the South Downs and the 'Sussex Ouse Valley Way' are firm favourites of ours, as are the off-road cycle paths of the 'Forest Way' and the 'Cuckoo Trail' nearby. There are also many tourist attractions close by including no less than 3 steam trains(!): the Bluebell Railway, Lavender Line and Spa Valley Railways, Hever and Lewes Castles and many many lovely parks and gardens (e.g. Leonardslee (famous for its spring time colour), Sheffield Park (famous for its autumn colour), Wakehurst Place (sister of Kew Gardens, which housing the national seed collection) & Batemans (home of Rudyard Kipling). One of Englands oldest and most beautiful vineyards - The Bolney Wine Estate - is not far away and has wine tasting tours and a lovely cafe. There are also many golf courses nearby. There's much on offer for children too: Groombridge Place (with its giant tree swings and tree top walkway), Knockhatch Adventure Park and Ski Center, Bedgebury Arboretum with its Natural Play Trail, Mountain bike trails and 'Go Ape' , Drusilla's Zoo and Wilderness Woods, Blackberry Farm or Middle Farm for the littler ones are just a taste of what's on offer. The famous chalk cliffs of the Severn Sisters Country Park are an easy day trip away, as are the bustling towns of Brighton, Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells (all approx 30- 40 mins by car). Under an hour away is the lovely family friendly seaside resort of Bexhill. When the tide is out the beaches are wide and shallow, revealing some large sandy patches.
