A warm welcome to our authentic Normandy Longere, built over 200 years ago as a farmhouse with a barn and granary. The house has been sympathetically and gently renovated to include two lovely double guest bedrooms. 1) The spacious en suite ground floor room is newly renovated and suitable for all guests, including disabled guests, direct entry to the room is through double doors from the car park. 2) A pretty double room on the first floor with a private shower room ( listed separately) Our guests tell us we have a restful and tranquil environment, an ideal space to unwind and enjoy some « pet » therapy and gently find a calmer you…. We present our tradition Normandy Longère and gîte ….sympathetically and gently renovated to include ( in the farmhouse) two lovely guest bedrooms, a library area with comfortable arm chairs, a large living room with wood burning stove and a spacious traditionally French farmhouse kitchen/ dining room. Thé Gîte has a separate listing. The ground floor room has direct access to the driveway, patio and large pretty garden. Many guests have told us that we provide “exceptional value for money” Guests are welcome to use the library ( guest living room), large French style kitchen, dining room and stunning garden. We are both COVID-19 vaccinated and happy to interact with guests, however please be aware that we are English, our spoken French is evolving but we need a lot of practice. We and our guests seem to survive very well with a mixture of English, French and “ translation apps” We have three dogs, three cats and seven chickens who are extremely sociable and will enjoy all interactions with guests. If you are not an “ animal” person please be aware our animals are very friendly and curious. Located on the Manche/Calvados border in Lower Normandy. Ideally positioned for exploring the iconic delights of Normandy ....Le Mont Saint Michel and the Normandy coast is approximately 30 km. (45 minutes drive) We are directly on the GR22 ( the pilgrimage route to Mont St Michel ) and St Michel De Montjoie was a pilgrimage holy place due to the visibility of Mont Saint Michel on a clear day from the village vantage lookout point. Restaurants/ bars are approx 5-10 km away... Tourists can visit the military cemeteries, war memorial museums, and D-Day landing beaches, including Omaha Beach and Arromanches Beach. With its beautiful, varied scenery and rich history, Normandy has much to offer visitors. Normandy boasts one of France's most famous tourist sights, Mont-Saint-Michel as well as impressive castles, splendid churches, and picturesque ancient towns such as Rouen. The seaside resorts of Honfleur and Deauville are popular during summer, and the natural beauty of the region's coastline, woodlands, and meadows is an attraction in itself. Along the Channel coast, dramatic limestone cliffs drop off into the ocean, while Lower Normandy is characterized by verdant, peaceful valleys. An idyllic pastoral area known as the "Suisse Normande" ("Norman Switzerland") attracts nature lovers and outdoor sport enthusiasts. Normandy is also well known as the site of Allied landings in 1944. There is evidence of World War II events throughout the region. Tourists can visit the military cemeteries, war memorial museums, and D-Day landing beaches, including Omaha Beach and Arromanches Beach. We have an updated collection of local brochures and a guest suggestion book for all local activities... A car is needed in this area. We may be able to collect guests from the various local airports and ferry ports at a negotiated cost. Absolutely no smoking in the house. Continental breakfast is included in the price. Also fresh eggs from our own chickens. Guests consistently tell us our meals are “outstanding “ A Full English breakfast ( eggs, bacon, sausages beans, mushrooms, toast, tea, coffee, juice ) may be available on request and by prior arrangement and is €10 per person. Chambre d’hôte régulations mean we do not provide separate evening meals for guests, however It may be possible to join us for our evening meal ( one course only) at a cost of €12 Please inform me when booking that you would like an evening meal. Three very friendly dogs, three cats and ten free ranging chickens reside at this property, so apologies but we cannot accept other dogs.
