Old Town Hall Cottage is a picturesque early 17th century two bedroomed cosy country cottage. The cottage has many original features including original oak beams, open fireplace & mullioned windows. It is comfortably furnished and well equipped to accommodate 4 people. Fantastic location in the village of Old Town and yet only 1 mile from Hebden Bridge. The cottage is rated 4* by Visit Britain & we have consistently gained their Gold Award for our high standards of accommodation. The cottage has undergone a major renovation project in early 2021 which provided, new kitchen units & appliances, new bathroom suite including luxury walk in shower & underfloor heating, new central heating system, full rewiring including hard wired smoke, heat & carbon dioxide alarms. It was fully redecorated & new carpets fitted along with some new furniture & fittings. Facilities available include, free high speed Wi-Fi, Bluetooth CD microsystem, flat screen smart TV with DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven, gas hob, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle & toaster & has a breakfast table & chairs. The cottage has full gas central heating and also a Hunter gas stove in the living room fireplace. Prices include quality egyptian cotton bed linen & towels, all heating and lighting, welcome food pack, fresh fruit, flowers & complimentary toiletries. Well behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement, house rules are that they are not to be allowed on furniture or upstairs. There is parking directly outside the cottage & also a small patio with table & chairs for relaxing on those lovely sunny days. We pride ourselves on our personal service & have built our reputation on this over the last 17 years . However, since Covid we have started operating contactless check in as this suits most guests needs, we will however, leave a welcome note in the cottage explaining things such as heating etc. & we live only 5 minutes from the cottage and so are usually available should you need any further information during your stay. We will pop by at some point during your stay to introduce ourselves & to make sure that everything in the cottage is as you expected. The village of Old Town is surrounded by lovely countryside, our cottage is part of the ancient settlement which was mentioned in the Domesday book. There are 2 lovely village pubs which serve good food and drink & are dog friendly, they're both within walking distance of the cottage. We also have a local village shop/post office for all those basic requirements. The town of Hebden Bridge is only 1 mile away from Old Town Hall Cottage, if you don't want to drive, it's a lovely walk downhill through the fields from Old Town to Hebden Bridge, there is also a regular bus service & taxis are reliable and inexpensive. The railway station in Hebden Bridge makes it easy to access other towns in the Calder Valley or cities further afield such as Manchester, Leeds & York. We would like to reassure our guests that we are adhering to the guidelines issued by the British Government, Public Health England and the National Health Service. We have introduce additional cleaning to our already stringent routines, especially focusing on touchpoints such as door handles & bathrooms & have signed up to the industry standard "Good to Go" requirements. Old Town Mill which is just further on the lane from the cottage is currently being developed to create upmarket housing. There is therefore the potential for some intermittent daytime/weekday noise, however hopefully you will not be at all disturbed by it. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring the local area, Hebden Bridge is a very lively town with lots of quirky shops, cosmopolitan café bars, restaurants etc. There are fantastic countryside walks to be enjoyed straight from the cottage. We're also very close to the Yorkshire Dales and are midway between the cities of Leeds and Manchester so whether you fancy a relaxing walk in the country or a spot of shopping our cottage is superbly located.
