VILLA PETRASIA - CILENTO Villa Petrasia is a modern private villa with private swimming pool located on the Cilento coastline, south of Amalfi. From the villa, there are spectacular sea views and much of the estate is covered with dense woodland. The National Park of Cilento (with many plant species and animal life such has hawks and wolves) occupies much of the southern area of the Salerno province. For those who like to explore nature this villa is a wonderful choice. The sandy beach is only 800m from the villa and is accessed via the road. From the beach following the coast, you can take a walk to the village within about 2km. The village is lively in the summer months, but is quieter out of peak season. Daily tours to Napoli, Pompei, Herculaneum, Matera are available. During summer months guests can reach the Amalfi Coast, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento and the island of Capri even by hydrofoil from Sapri harbour – the perfect way to enjoy the Amalfi coast without staying in the tourist hustle and bustle! THE AREA Cilento, the southernmost area of Campania, has been included in the UNESCO in the World Heritage List. With almost one hundred kilometres of coast with cliffs overlooking the sea, golden beaches, wild and unspoilt landscapes, and large bays with fully equipped beach clubs, Cilento can boast some of the most beautiful seaside spots of Campania such as Palinuro, Scario, Ascea, Ogliastro, Paestum, Villammare and Camerota, all part of the Cilento National Park. Here is where we find the marks of great history; it was here that the founder of Rome, Aeneas, is said to have made shore first in western Italy after the battle of Troy, and it is also said to be here along the coast that the sirens called on Odysseus with their songs. The village of Villammare is an ancient fishing village at the foot of the extensive Cilento National Park which takes in one of the most attractive strips of the Tyrrhenian coast swathed by the vivid colours of the Mediterranean flora. Long sandy beaches, a colourful seafront fringed with palms and eucalyptus trees, small restaurants, cosy venues and cottages make of Villammare the perfect seaside resort for travellers from all over the world in search of friendly and charming spots off the beaten track. Breathtaking views from the hills covered with centuries-old cork oaks, trekking the mountains and cruising along the Cilento coast, mouth-watering regional cuisine and the special friendliness of the locals captivate visitors all year round. The villa, which is comprised of three apartments, is booked as a private villa and is surrounded by a large, enclosed garden. It is quite suitable for families with children. Each apartment has a separate independent entrance and sea views. The ground floor apartment, the largest of the apartments, has its main door facing the garden. Above this is the spacious first floor apartment with a large terrace facing the sea. On the second floor is the charming attic apartment, also with a balcony. The apartments are bright and fresh, furnished in a simple and elegant style. Guests have use of the external areas: the large loggia and solarium, garden, swimming pool (12m x 6m, depth 1.40m -2.40m; open April -October), barbecue, outdoor showers and pergola. GROUND FLOOR - Sleeps 6 The living room is large, bright and with wonderful views. From the living room there are two double bedrooms and one single bedroom with additional pull out bed sleeping two. There are two bathrooms with shower. The spacious kitchen also has sea views. From the living room, is the panoramic patio with stone arches that offers a picturesque view of the surrounding area. This apartment does not have air conditioning but it is possible to request fans. FIRST FLOOR - Sleeps 2 External stairs lead up to the first floor where there is a large terracotta-paved terrace furnished with table, chairs and umbrella. There is a second smaller terrace to the rear of the apartment with mountain views. There is an open plan living room with double sofa bed and kitchenette. The double bedroom with wrought iron bed has sea views. One bathroom with shower. Air conditioning on this floor. SECOND FLOOR - Sleeps 2 This apartment is located at the top of the villa and is accessed via external stairs. There is a lovely balcony with superb views of the enchanting Mediterranean panorama. On the terrace, down the steps, there is a table, chairs and umbrella. There is an open plan living room with double sofa bed and kitchenette. There is a double bedroom that overlooks the orchard and swimming pool, and a bathroom with shower. Air conditioning on this floor. From the ground floor down a small set of stairs is the barbecue area, furnished in rustic style, all in local stone and chestnut wood with magnificent views of the Mediterranean countryside, which is perfect for a wonderful evening meal. On request, the annex can be open for guests' use. About 40 sq. meters, it sleeps 4 in one double bedroom, open plan living room with a single bed with additional pull out bed. We recommend the annex for staff travelling with the family of for grown up children.
