The Hopper Huts are charming and characterful converted former Hop Pickers huts on a working dairy farm. They offer cosy and peaceful accommodation with a lovely outlook over fields and woods. Depending on the time of year, there may be cows or sheep in the field in front you. You will be ideally situated just off the A21 for visiting Tunbridge Wells or Tonbridge and the surrounding villages. Bewl Water, Bedgebury Forest and many National Trust attractions are in close proximity. The property has a larger main bedroom with a king size double bed and a much smaller second bedroom with a bunk bed. The bunk beds are suitable for children and smaller/medium sized adults. They are not suitable for taller/heavier adults. There are footpaths and tracks around the farm offering lovely walks across the Wealden countryside. On your walks you may encounter cows, sheep, horses and our pet pigs. A charcoal barbecue is available at the property. A Highchair and Travel Cot are also available upon request. There is plenty of parking space outside the property. Joseph is likely to be available if needed during your stay. If not, another family or farm member will be available to help. The local villages like Lamberhurst, Matfield, Goudhurst, Brenchley and Horsmonden are picturesque and feature several attractive country pubs. Tunbridge Wells (10 minutes drive away) also has numerous restaurants and bars. There are several National trust properties within easy driving distance - like Scotney Castle, Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens, Knowle Park and Ightham Mote. Other attractions like Leeds or Hever Castle, and Penshurst Place are also not far away. Camber Sands, Rye, Hastings and Bexhill are around 30-45 minutes drive away. Pub-wise - we tend to go to: The Vineyard at Lamberhurstwhich is very nice and has a garden with children's play area. The Camden at Pembury is comfortable and spacious, has a very varied menu and the prices are reasonable. The Peacock at Goudhurst is a nice country pub with an outdoor eating area. The Halfway House at Brenchley is a characterful country pub- with lots of beers to try and an outdoor eating area. Matfield has two pubs - the Star and Poet which are both fine but we don't know so well. We don't often go to Restaurants, but the Cote Brasserie French Restauarant in Tunbridge Wells is a favourite of my brother. There are however lots of restaurants in Tunbridge Wells, catering for all sorts of tastes. Take-aways. Ocean Fish and Chips in Pembury is very good. Although Happy Days Chinese, also in Pembury looks a bit scruffy, we have found the food to be good. Olivers Fish and Chips in Paddock Wood is also good and Pizza is available from Dominoes in Paddock Wood. We're told Sun Kong House Chinese in Paddock Wood is also very good. For curry we use Turmeric Gold near Tonbridge - about 15 mins drive away. There is a Burger King half a mile up the road at the BP Garage on the A21; and a McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken at North Farm Industrial Estate - five minutes up the A21 heading towards Tonbridge (on the left). The nearest Railway Station is Paddock Wood, although Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Stations are also close by, offering direct trains to London in under an hour. Buses are pretty much non existent but there are good local taxi servcies available if needed. The property is less than half a mile off the A21 - so reaching the M25 (approx 25 minutes) or Gatwick Airport (approx 45 minutes) for instance is straight forward. If you are interested in outdoor pursuits, bikes can be hired at both Bewl Water and at Bedgebury Forest - where there are blue (family) and red (more challenging) mountain bike trails. Bedgebury Forest also offers Go Ape, scenic walks and children's trails with the likes of The Gruffalo. Please note departure time is 10.00 am and arrival is any time from 2.00 pm. Please keep to these times as we need to be able to get into the property to clean and prepare it for the next guests. Thank you.
