Romantic countryside gite on a Peacock Farm
The gite is one of three in a terrace on a small farm run by an English women. The farm is located close to Argentan and all its facilities but down a leafy lane in the middle of fields. On the farm there is a herd of rescue horses, a flock of wild peacocks, cats and dogs. All the animals are beautiful and friendly. The farm leads straight on to a green lane which links endlessly through the local countryside and small hamlets. Ideal for walking and cycling. This is a quaint, luminous cottage with plenty of character. It has an open plan living room and kitchen downstairs and a roomy double bedroom with ensuite bathroom upstairs. A washing machine and dryer is available in a nearby barn. Additional storage. Gardens and paddocks to roam, a little brocante to browse. Guests can feed the peacocks and walk foals up the chemin by arrangement. I live on the property in a separate house. Argentan boosts a pretty centre, with churches, cafes, and bistros. It also has a theatre, racecourse, swimming pool, and cinema. The town has a strong association with the arts. It is the birthplace of Fernand Leger and Andre Mare. There are always art exhibitions, music events and workshops all available through tourist information. Haras du Pin is close by and there are also many opportunities for riding, carriage rides. Many equestrian events are held at Haras du pin including eventing, show jumping, dressage, carriage driving. There is racing and trotter racing at Argentan, Ranes and Bagnoles de l'orne. There are many Brocante fairs around including the famous Foire des Andaine at Bagnole. Easy road access to Falaise, Alencon, Sassy, Sees, Carrouges, Trun, Caen, Ferte Mace and Domfont.
