Norsminde farm stay: beach sand and apple blossom

Unique farm stay on the coast of Jutland, on our 5ha organic apple farm situated 150 meters from Norsminde beach. Our old-school farm cottage sleeps 4-6 people in three bedrooms, with a well-equipped kitchen and wifi. Outside dining areas, a large lawn and garden, access to orchards, and a greenhouse with wood stove and cosy seating are included. The beach is accessible on foot down our private access road. Expect unfussy, relaxed farm living in beautiful surroundings. Ideal for family holidays. This traditional Danish farm has two farm cottages and a barn arranged in a U-shape. We live in the one cottage, and you have the second. Before we took over the farm in 2019, three generations of the same family lived here. Much of the furniture and fittings are original to the farm and take us back to the way things used to be: old-school style with contemporary comfort. The farm has 500+ apple and pear trees, in three orchards. It is rather unique in being situated so close to the beach, in an area usually associated with summer houses. A second part of the farm fronts onto Norsminde fjord, a nature reserve and recreational area. You have use of our rowing boat and two farm bicycles - and you are welcome to be included in farm activities. Apple picking happens between August and November, and berry picking is from May onwards. The farm has two cats - you are welcome to bring your own pets, provided they respect "Bandit" and "Pickle". This farm stay combines the best features of a traditional beach holiday, with the fun of a farm stay. Guests will have access to all parts of the farm, including the green house, orchards, gardens, and our private road to the beach. We are close by to lend a hand, but the farm is big enough that we don't have to intrude in your space. You decide whether you would like to be left alone, or be included in farm activities. You will find these breakfast items in the kitchen: homemade sourdough rye bread, butter, farm jam, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milk. Norsminde is one of the most beautiful coastal villages in Jutland and a favourite holiday destination for residents of nearby Aarhus. The small-boat harbour, "Kro" and fish restaurant (Fiskehuset) add to the holiday feel- Long, white sandy beaches and the occasional swimming platform complete the feel. This area is ideal for walking, boating, bird-watching, swimming and spending lots of time doing nothing much on the beach. The main entrance to the farm fronts onto a popular cycling route, that takes you along the coast between Aarhus and Hou. There is a limited bus service to Malling and Aarhus on the #302 bus. Otherwise the farm is accessible by car or bicycle. There is lovely hot water however the plumbing is as old as the house. It will not impact your shower but you may need some patience with other water facilities. The have installed a new fire burning stove inside the house. We stock a basket with wood on your arrival. There is wood for sale at neighbouring roadside stalls, or we can restock the basket for 40kr.
