Luxury Garden Cottage close to the South Downs.

The Garden Cottage is a bright, modern space on two floors, with views across a pretty cottage garden towards the South Downs. The spacious first floor bedroom has a king size bed, walk-in cupboard and Juliet balcony, with en suite facilities, and the ground floor comprises a generous sitting room, kitchenette and shower room. Steps lead from the patio doors in the sitting room into a small private garden area with picnic table, for exclusive use by Garden Cottage guests. The Garden Cottage is on a private drive of only four houses, off a quiet lane, but still only a short walk from the centre of Steyning, with all its shops and amenities. Guests enter the Cottage via a lockable door from a shared entrance lobby/utility room. There are two steps into the lobby from the driveway, and three more down into the Cottage. Guests have full access to the whole of the self-contained Cottage, apart from the loft behind the en suite bathroom. They are welcome to explore the main garden and to sit on the various patios to enjoy the pond and the flower borders, or to watch the hens pottering about in their run. We live in the adjoining property, but apart from the shared entrance lobby, the Cottage is completely separate from the main house, and each has its own lockable front door. We are often at home, so can usually help with any questions guests may have. If we go out, we can almost always be reached by mobile. Steyning is a pretty historic town with a population of about 6,000 residents, at the foot of the beautiful South Downs. The popular South Downs Way is close by, as is Monarch's Way, and other well-known footpaths and bridleways. Steyning has plenty of interesting and quirky shops, galleries and a museum, as well as several excellent cafes and some good traditional pubs. St Andrew's Church, part of which dates back to Saxon times, is also well worth a visit. Steyning Leisure Centre with its 25m swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and other sports facilities, is just a short walk from the Garden Cottage. There are wonderful views from the top of the South Downs, and plenty of off-road routes directly from Steyning, whether walking or cycling. Less energetic guests can easily drive to the top of the Downs and park there, to enjoy the views as well as a less challenging stroll. Buses run from various points in Steyning, to and from Brighton, along the coast, with less frequent services to other nearby towns and villages. The nearest train station is Shoreham-by-Sea, about four miles away, with trains running to Gatwick, London and Brighton, and along the south coast. The station can be accessed via the Brighton buses. Gatwick Airport is only about 35 minutes away by car, and about 45 minutes by train from Shoreham-by-Sea. Bikes, muddy walking boots etc can be stored in the lockable garages.
