The cottage has been completely refurbished and beautifully designed down to the last detail,comfortable and with all mod cons. With so much to do in the area it's a great place for anyone who wants a lovely break from their everyday life. The Garden Cottage is situated in a picturesque farmyard courtyard within the South Downs. Beautifully equipped and decorated. Fully fitted kitchen. Double height beamed living room with stairs up to the bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room. Downstairs bathroom has bath and shower. For extra guests we have a high quality double sofa bed, situated in the living room and an extra single bed in the upstairs bedroom. Lovely views out onto cottage's private area and the hosts private garden designed by RHS Gold medal winner.I am happy to show you around the garden if you are interested please just ask. Not suitable for toddlers. Babes in arms and over 3 years. Steam cleaned between guests to highest level of cleanliness. We do not allow animals at this property. We have a lovely swimming pool which we kindly allow you to use with our family. It is open the 1stJune until the 1st September. The temperature reaches a max of 26 degrees by late June. It is our family pool and as a courtesy we invite our guests to share it with us. Don’t expect to have it to yourself, although often this may be the case. We do not charge for the use and rules apply.Please bring your own swimming towels if you wish to use it. You have your own lovely private patio garden with gas barbecue and log fire to keep you warm while star gazing! Car parking outside the cottage. You also have use of our Table Tennis,Darts Board and Skittles in the covered barn. Times apply. I usually leave the property open and key on the table.If you prefer a personal greeting and I’m available I’m very happy to do that , just ask. If I am away there is a key safe to let yourself in. I live next door so should you need anything just pop round. Oakhanger Village is set in the S.D. National Park ideal for walkers, directly on the Hangers Way trail. Sites of scientific interest abound as written about in Gilbert White's 'A Naturalists Calendar' and SDNP has just been designated as a Dark Sky Area, the stars here are amazing. There is a wonderful circular walk straight from the cottage to Selbourne, which has a lovely pub and tearoom, amazing cakes! Our wonderful pub The Hanger in the village is a 5 min walk and two other good pubs, East Worldham and Kingsley both a 5 mins drive. Coffee shop The Chocolate Frog, 2 minute walk away, fabulous food. Lots of historic houses to visit nearby including Jane Austen's House and Trail, Uppark House and Gardens, Hinton Ampner and Petworth House and Park. You will never be short of something to do in the area. Chichester Theatre and Goodwood are 30 mins away. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard 40mins and Winchester also approx 35 mins away. However, it is so beautiful here most people do not venture far, especially when the pool is open. By Train: Alton Station is 1 hr 15 minutes from London Waterloo. £15 ten minute taxi ride from the station to the cottage. By Car: 10 mins from Longmoor/Birdworld junction on A3 or 15 mins from Farnham A31. Tea and Coffee percolator and plunger provided. Cooking oil , balsamic vinegar and variety of herbs available for your use. Cleaning products, dish tabs , etc. Toiletries in bathrooms all provided We have a small flock of friendly hens and a magnificent cockerel called Brigadier.You may occasionally hear him call the girls to order. We also rent out a stunning two person Shepherd’s Hut set in it’s own private garden with its own kitchen and bathroom. We live up a long drive surrounded by paddocks and horses, goats and a very old sheep. We own a dog.
