Lovingly restored period property.
The house has been completely refurbished. It is in a quiet cul de sac in a village 4 miles from the centre of Cambridge, home of one of Europe's preeminent universities. We are also only 2.5 miles from the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the world's largest biomedical centres. Close by are three great houses, Audley End, Anglesey Abbey and Wimpole Hall. The Imperial War Museum, Duxford, host to three major air shows, is only 5 miles away. Guests will find an early 20th century property that has been lovingly brought up to date throughout to the highest standards. Some period features, including original fireplaces, have been retained, adding character to the property. The bedrooms with two single beds can both be made up as doubles if required, however the third bedroom is quite small so not really sutable for work collegues to share but perfect for children or couples. There is a large garden to the back of the property and cars can be easily parked on the quiet road in front of the house. Guests will have access to the entire property and secluded garden. We are close to open countryside, ideal for serious walkers or for those after a leisurely stroll. The village has excellent shops including two convenience stores, one of the 50 top delicatessens in the country and the best butcher for miles around. There are two pubs serving good traditional British food and a Chinese and an award winning Indian restaurant. There is free parking in front of the house, with access to an EV charging point. Great Shelford is easily reached by car or train. Cambridge could be called the cycling capital of Britain and there is an excellent network of cycle paths. Shops and pubs are a short walk away. There is bus service every 10 minutes to Cambridge city centre. The train station is 5 minutes walk away providing an alternative route to Cambridge and with frequent services to London and Stansted Airport.
