Tudor Cottage is a traditional 16th century stone cottage, full of original features, exposed beams and modern home comforts. Set in the beautiful Peak District village of Foolow with quiet, country lanes, pretty limestone cottages, a village green with a medieval cross … even a picture-perfect duck pond, complete with ducks. The cottage was our family home for over 30 years which we have lovingly restored, keeping the original features while adding modern home comforts. The cottage is full of character with exposed beam, a log burning stove and a some low ceilings (be prepared to duck every now and again). The 3 bedrooms provide flexible sleeping arrangements for 5 plus a baby, with a double bedroom , a twin bedroom (which can be put together to make a king) and a single bedroom. The cottage also has a fully equipped kitchen, separate dining room and cosy living room. Outdoor patio space is available at the front and rear of the property. Dogs are welcome in the cottage, but should not be left unsupervised in the cottage at any time during your stay. A travel cot, bed guard, and high chair are available on request. Bed linen & towels are provided. There is a bicycle store should you wish to bring your bicycle. Perfect for both summer and winter breaks. Entire Cottage with its own private entrance. We are available at anytime should you need any help or assistance with your stay. The Cottage is set right in the centre of the idyllic village of Foolow with the duck pond and village green. The Bull's Head, just a 1 minutes walk from the cottage, offers a full bar and restaurant menu in a beautiful, traditional setting with local ales. The pub is dog friendly. There is no shop so the village but the pub sells essentials ( closed on Mondays). The Barrel Inn in the nearby village of Bretton is also within easy walking distance, however, and is reputedly the highest pub in Derbyshire, as evidenced by the spectacular views from its front lawns. Eyam - known as the plague village - is the closest village with a shop, just 1.5 miles away. Tideswell and Calver are 2 miles away, and both have village shops. Bakewell, around 8 miles away has a wide range of shops and 2 supermarkets. A car is not essential but recommended. There are good local bus service around the Peak District, mainly through the towns and villages. The nearest train station is at Grindleford. Chesterfield and Sheffield bus services also serve the Peak District. Foolow is surrounded by the most glorious Peak District countryside of gently rolling hills, ancient dry-stone walls and tumbledown barns. This is a haven for walkers and cyclists, with a great many easy routes to follow on mostly level, well-made trails, all offering beautiful views. There is no off road parking, but parking is generally easy to find on the road outside the property. Due to the current COVID situation all guide books and leaflets have been removed from the cottage for your safety. Check in is by key lock and all necessary information will be sent out with arrival details. The safety and well-being of all my guests is my priority. The cottage is professionally cleaned and disinfected in line with all government policies so that you can relax and just enjoy your holiday.
